Concessions once again abysmal. I'm trying to buy a hot dog and the payment machine broke, so we waited 10 mins while 50 people got on behind me
#1443782 Is Vanzeir a bust?
Posted by regulator on 04 March 2024 - 09:24 PM
A lot is made of Vanzeir's partner, but I think the issue is more in how our coaches are using him. Struber wouldn't know how to get Cristiano Ronaldo to score goals, Lesesne let him roam free in the midfield, and now Schwarz has him making more runs to the corner flag or playing him as a right winger.
There have been almost no patterns of play since Vanzeir's arrival that include him making a run into the box at the same time that someone is looking to play him in. It makes it really hard to judge him as a player because this is supposed to be what he excels at, and he's not even being put in a position to try.
It can't get much worse for Vanzeir than the first 15 minutes of the second half against Houston in that RW spot. Some clips here of him and Edelman coughing it up time after time, mostly Vanzeir.
If the game plan will continue to ask him to play mostly in the open field, then swapping him for another DP this summer might be the best move for everyone. But then again, that scares me because I was confident they'd flip Luqui and here we are with an open DP spot. I feel like selling him over the summer just means we end 2024 with two open DP spots.
Seems like he's being wasted out wide. Maybe the team would benefit from having Dante play centrally and Manoel out wide

Bad: Amaya is turnover prone in midfield. Not just today but in general. Wouldn't mind trading him and signing a replacement in the summer.
Ugly: we reverted to a defensive shell the final 20 mins. It worked today against a lackluster Houston squad. It won't work against bigger teams. We need a better alternative than send Forsberg at forward and defend with 10 men

I think we grind out a 2-1 road victory. Dante and Forsberg goals
For once I actually bet on my intuition today lol

#1443472 Ngoma hurt again
Posted by regulator on 01 March 2024 - 05:43 PM
No it's not. How do you know we have poor rehab staff? This isn't school. This is business. If he can't stay healthy, move on from him and find someone else. Sorry to sound so negative but I just find it incredibly odd how one player continues to have the same kind of injury that just won't go away? And month after month goes by and we're wondering when we're gonna see this kid again, if ever this season? We need healthy players that will help us win.
Ngoma is only 18 and doesn't even count against the roster cap. It makes 0 sense to cut him now

2/20 L 1-2 @ St Louis (CCL)
2/24 D 1-1 vs Kansas City
2/28 Home vs St Louis (CCL)
3/2 Home vs RBNY
4 games in 11 days for a team in preseason form. Unfortunately for us they've had minimal travel. Hoping the 2nd CCL game drags on into extra time.
I think we come out with the same lineup as game 1. No need to rush Tolkin or Morgan back until they're 100%. Give them 20-30 mins in the second half.
Assuming we don't hit the post 3x again, I think we can grab a victory on the road.

Really? How many goals did we score?
All I saw today were passes straight to the gk.
The same thing happened last year.
We hit the post 3 times today. Sometimes the ball isn't in your favor.

The forwards aren't the issue right now. The team is playing well and once Morgan regains fitness and regains his starting role we'll be even better

Seems unlikely, at least out of the gate.
I would rather roll the dice on a speedy unknown than suffer another season of watching Omir "head down" Fernandez as our #1 attacking option
