Seems pretty fucking stupid to put a healthy, solid, in his prime CM and your fucking CAPTAIN on the block when hes only making $300k.
But hey hes in the prime of his career so lets get the value now right?

Do you think he's a starting quality player at any midfield position?
If so, then your outrage is warranted. If not, that outrage should be over paying "only" $300k for a bench player. Salary cap still exists.

I think he is a starting quality #8.

Would be sad to see Sean go. He's kind of a regressed in a weird way after his first three seasons to become a middling midfielder. Just not quick enough to cover a lot of ground and, to the eye, not killer enough with a long pass.
He's very good at maintaining possession and transitioning out of the defending phase, but I feel like that's a limited toolset.
I like Sean a lot, I think with the right tactics he can shine. Just seems like as of late, he hasn't been the asset I thought he'd become in back in 2016.
Well said. Obviously, his style of play wont make him stand out. But even so, it seems he has plateaued/regressed over the past 2 years or so. I never agreed with the decision to make him Captain because he is not one of the first names on the team sheet. You can't have a captain who is not starting every game. It's very possible that he is just not in Struber's plans, therefore a trade makes sense.
That being said, it would be really sad to see him go. In the last Seeing Red episode he spoke about how he grew up rooting for the Red Bulls, and how it was a dream come true to become the captain of the team. It seemed like he would be happy to play here for his entire career.

IMO hate to see him go. I hope it would be better a departure than with Kaku or Dax or BWP.

Unexpected if true... I felt he could have a career year in 2021. maybe some sort of roster space? Frankie Amaya?

Not to mention we probably have 4 or 5 CMs [Valot,
Davis,Casseres, Yearwood, Diarra] that at this stage are here to play regularly and there arent enough slots for them.

they better make sure Diarra's knees work before trading Davis.

Sucks if he does get traded, but it makes sense if he's not one of Struber's guys. Plus, that's ~300k off the cap

Davis, Royer and Long are the only important players left from the good old days of 2018.

Based on the limited stuff I've seen, don't mind his game at all, but I too am worried about his past injuries.
