In Topic: Some people don't think of MLS

22 October 2020 - 03:07 PM

I was 11 too. I know the season was cut short, but I didn't know Miami played one less game. This is obviously a learning experience for me and the rest of the board and we will gladly step aside if anyone else wants to take over and run the foundation better. Unfortunately, like any volunteer organization, we already struggle to find enough people willing to run to fill the open seats, let alone have an election. Hopefully our fuck up lights a fire under some people and they get rid of us and show us how it's done.

I mean - shit happens man. If anything, people's anger towards potentially missing out on the shield this year shows how important the work you volunteers do is to people.

I think the supporters shield is one of the coolest trophy's in sports - particularly because its run by the fans with a cool egalitarian vibe.

I have seen my share of mistakes or fuckups or by highly funded organizations - who then refuse to revisit and adjust. This seems like there was an error and the broader fan community - the supporters for which the shield is named - voiced their concern and the situation is revisited. I think its awesome to see in action.

Make sure all the board peeps keep their chins up - onward and upward.

In Topic: Lineup for next season

Also because it was a mid-season transfer and we had no realistic way of replacing him. I still wonder if that was ever a serious number or pretty much just a way to tell other teams to fuck off.

I took it as a fuck off.... which surprised me. I'd figure if they brought someone in for nothing, and could flip him at 27 yo for 7 mil, they would do it regardless of how it affected the strength of the team. Feels like maybe there is more to the story? Maybe they thought Long was good advertisement for the RB brand through national team duty. Or maybe, which is the obvious uncynical answer, they actually care about winning and needed long for that.

World Soccer in their annual transfer market report, discussed Long's prospects. They stated that he had a $6M buy out clause, which in their view was a bargain. As a result, they thought it was likely he was going.

No other Red Bull made the report.

I believe it was confirmed that he does not have a release clause - just something west ham reporters misstated. RB wanted something like 15 mil for him - but I would imagine that number is lower now, due to remaining years on contract and age.

In Topic: Gerhard Struber no longer a rumour

What are the odds Struber coaches this year?

I think he will, as long as he is here. I'm thinking he may take over for playoffs.

In Topic: Current Roster - Start, Bench, Move (cut, trade, sell, or demote) in 2021

TBD Young Attacking Mid - Clark and Kaku understudy insurance

Tom Barlow - Just depth

Mathias Jørgensen - Last year to show something - would be fine if he's gone to make room for a forward prospect

TBD Young DP Forward

TBD Forward

Sean Davis - Local guy - so sucks - but I feel like the curse of captaincy is real

Brian White - Its him or Barlow - coin flip, but I think you maybe could get a couple garber bucks for White

David Jensen - Would be happy if he stayed, but I think you can find a domestic equivalent

Aaron Long - Think he wants his Europe shot - RB will do him a solid and get $ for him before 2022 free transfer

Samuel Tetteh - Not impressed - However, Struber I think coached him a Leifring. If so, I'd say his future is more based on Leifring than performance here.
