#1373649 Some people don't think of MLS

Posted by 67% Class on 22 October 2020 - 03:07 PM

I was 11 too. I know the season was cut short, but I didn't know Miami played one less game. This is obviously a learning experience for me and the rest of the board and we will gladly step aside if anyone else wants to take over and run the foundation better. Unfortunately, like any volunteer organization, we already struggle to find enough people willing to run to fill the open seats, let alone have an election. Hopefully our fuck up lights a fire under some people and they get rid of us and show us how it's done.

I mean - shit happens man. If anything, people's anger towards potentially missing out on the shield this year shows how important the work you volunteers do is to people.

I think the supporters shield is one of the coolest trophy's in sports - particularly because its run by the fans with a cool egalitarian vibe.

I have seen my share of mistakes or fuckups or by highly funded organizations - who then refuse to revisit and adjust. This seems like there was an error and the broader fan community - the supporters for which the shield is named - voiced their concern and the situation is revisited. I think its awesome to see in action.

Make sure all the board peeps keep their chins up - onward and upward.

Ozil please

There's no way. Too old and would take time from Kaku/Clark. Also, I wonder what Red Bulls interests are in China.

Shitty source - but Ozil spoke out about Uyghur camps -

I detest companies/governments/athletes cowtowing to Chinese pressure and enabling a genocide for money. Unfortunately, I suspect even if Ozil was a perfect fit, his comments would scare RB Global.  Maybe I'm wrong?

I'd rather have Barlow's physical presence on the field than Jorgensen or Tetteh whom have not shown jack shit to date! Barlow at least makes runs that spreads the defense. His shooting is horrendous, but he still helps spread defenses.

I know he's too old, but any chance Barlow moves positions ala Long? I dont see it, but just a thought. Man, I wish BWP was here. Not only starting in a 2 striker set up, but training/drilling guys just like Henry did for him.

Hey - just wanted to say thanks for all the info on this website and the effort it must require. I was just thinking about the history of coach nationalities and thought maybe there's a list on here - obviously there is. Thanks!

I am well aware of that.
Imagine if every employment contract included a trade clause. Your employee could simply give your right to work to an actual competitor? Take it or leave it.
I still think that it is a crazy concept.
If you are surplus to requirements,
then work out a severance package.

Agreed there. Trading is sketchy.

Trading is more an American concept, correct? In other sports/leagues/countries, its more of a three party agreement for transfer - current employer involved with new employer to get paid for remaining years on contract, player approves cancellation of contract with current club, and player agreeing to new contract with new club. The trading setup seems more like a 2 party set up - wouldn't be legal in any other profession, I don't think.

That being said, the homegrown territory thing is maybe a step further - teams own players rights to players before there even is a contract - before they are even born.

I don't think it benefits US soccer, or MLS really. Kids don't want play in MLS because they lose control of their future.

I want RB to sign young promising kids from across the US, including Maryland and DC. The salary cap takes care of parity - why should a kid from DC not be able to choose metro?

If we are interested if him as a potential starter,
why not start him in a game?
He can always be subbed off, instead of on.

Yeah - I'm more in the start Tetteh camp, but Borats brought up the point that Barlow has to be reassessed as well - maybe he magically destroys it in the 4-2-3-1 with actual up-tempo high press. Maybe something has clicked - a brace and active game points to that being a possibility. Barlow showed a lot of good things.

My bring Tetteh on at half as opposed start comment was a bit of a concession to Borats. Tetteh, in my mind, should play 35-65' this game. I am happy with him starting or coming on as a sub before the 60' mark, but, as others have indicated, he has to get a big chunk of minutes.

The point I am making is that Barlow first half, then Tetteh at some point in the second would allow us to move forward towards getting answers to both Tetteh and Barlow, while not putting Tetteh in position where evaluation could be inaccurate. Maybe Jorgey can come in too for limited minutes at some point, and invisible White I believe is the odd man out. Yes, I know he scored once off a turnover in 421 minutes, but the other 420 minutes were inactive and off putting, which has to be considered as well.

Tetteh at half or before 60' and we have a deal.

#1372407 If new U22 rule happens

Posted by 67% Class on 29 September 2020 - 11:20 AM

i've heard it talked about on twitter the most, but it's still being worked out so they can role it out for the '21 season. I guess it could be similar to the Young DP rule, in that if you spend X amt of dollars on a guy, his cap hit would be significantly lower. e.g., when Kaku first got here, he was 23yo. Since the Young DP rule is for 23yo guys or younger, Kaku's cap hit for the '18 season was just only $200k.

Thanks for explanation. That could be very exciting - seems tailor fit for RB's youth only rule. Heard something about the removal of academy territories as well, not sure if that happened.

I can imagine a real talent pipeline where 16-20 yo across US (and Central/South America) pick RBNY over other options. They stay for a couple years while being scouted by two champions league teams that play same style (Salzburg/Liepzig) then head over to Europe.

I want to see a bit more danger of him coming off the bench though before starting. Even Jorgey before he started did some nice things in 20 minute slots, like passing by a player in the box and crossing a couple of times. All I remember from Tetteh so far a shot that went way over the bar. I know there are only few mins left in the season, but want to see him do something good as a sub first while rewarding Barlow's good performance last game.

I agree with this logic - probably correct to make Tetteh earn time via good play - but, I'd still start Tetteh vs. purple team solely for an assessment to see if you keep him. I don't want to have 3 games left in a playoff push and have to assess him then.

#1372373 Samuel Tetteh To New York Red Bulls

I really feel Barlow earned starting spot for next game. But if he is back to sucking, wouldn't mind seeing Tetteh for about half the game next Sat.

Yeah, he netted a brace and nearly had a third.  I think that earns him another start, for sure.

I think Barlow earned a start against purple people, and I wouldn't be upset if he got it. That being said a starter "DP" level forward is needed for next year in addition to Barlow/White. If Tetteh could be that guy, I'd think Thelwell would want to confirm during the lease period. There's only ~850 minutes left in season.

I believe I am supposed to say RELEASE THE TETTEH!

Montreal gave up, but that was really enjoyable. Particularly the organized high press in second half with Omir, I believe.  So enjoyable that I had to dust off this account.

Yeah dude, i understand. You don't want to lose those flag and drum privileges!

Are we allowed to have a board meeting before making a decision, or do we have to only make knee jerk reactions without consulting each other or membership?

If you guys want us to run the club like an Illuminati, we can.

More non SG members telling SG members how they should act.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa... quit the infighting... That's how movements die. As a non-SG member, I trust that the SGs will officially jump in and do their part when they can. Until the SGs are willing and able, non-SG members and independently-acting SG members will carry the message.

Focus animosity on those who deserve it... the Soda Hegemony. Lets get them Austrian devils out of here.

“I asked sometime last year, got to know [Red Bull Head of Global Soccer] Oliver Mintzlaff from Red Bull [Austria], and asked if there was a chance the team was for sale, to let me know.  I had an interest,” Ader tells EOS. “He made it very clear the team is not for sale and so I said to him then and I would say now, I would be happy to work with you to make the club the best it can be, from player development to fan engagement, let me know how I can help.

Maybe I'm reading too far into this, but why is Ader name dropping Oliver Mintzlaff? I would imagine he could say simply "Red Bull" and the question would have been answered... Seeing as he's a super clever and experienced corporate takeover guy, is he speaking to the fans through the press?  Should we be finding Oliver Mintzlaff's email/phone/address and focus a part of our grievances on him?

You're not wrong.  I have a real soft spot for the whole team during the JPA era. That was a fun team, at least through my rose colored glasses. Sure Sam is almost as fast, is much better on the ball (minus that houston game), and can cross, but Dane Richards is, as far as my eyes can tell, the second fastest Jamaican in the world.

In conclusion, Dane was the man on the right under JPA. Sam seems like he could be the man in the Henry era.

In my mind, it's like comparing JPA and Henry... why do it? You're not wrong, you're just yadda yadda yadda
