It's that time. Well, almost that time.

Give suggestions of when and where would be best for all. Technically it's B&G's turn to host.

We can wait till the MLS season is over. The last Cup game was in November or December. I think that would be best. Gives teams enough time to get it together.

The other option is playing when the Galaxy are away or not playing at all.
Here are those dates:
Sat. Sept 26 (playing away at Columbus @ 4:30pm)
Sat. Oct. 3
Sat. Oct. 10
Sat, Oct. 17
Sun. Oct. 18 (playing away at Houston @ 12:00pm)
Assuming playoffs start Oct. 31.
We also have Sundays available.

Isaac, how hard would it be to get that field in Lynwood again?

Discuss.

Shouldn't be too hard. My good friend from high school is the mayor's brother. It's just a matter of slipping in on that window between when the AYSO teams are finished, and when the park starts renovating. However, economy being what it is, I really don't think they're laying fresh grass this year, but I could be mistaken.

I was actually going to start working on this already, that's why I put that mysterious link under my profile which I anticipated nobody would click on.

I was originally aiming for late November or early December, well after MLS Cup has gone by but early enough to sneak under people's Christmas shopping expenses. 0=D

If you guys know of any other parks, ideally parks where 5.0 doesn't do a roundup before match time, let me know.

The biggest advantage to Lynwood is really just the goals + nets.

I'll talk to Raul this Friday, maybe the park where we played late last year in La Mirada would be a good option too, they have goals. We'd just need nets.

I have nets.

Shaggy brought up something about his friend working at Downey HS. I'll hit him up on that.

I'm with you Manwich...there are lots of different kinds of turf, and the most recent kinds are not bad at all.

I'd suggest getting a legit ref and linesman. Probably cost $100 or so...

Also, on the topic of dollars...this may be the right time to bring in OCP for some sponsorship fundage for things like refs or field fees.

FAQ #1

Q: Is this only S&P vs. B&G or will there be other teams?

A: Yes, this event is only S&P vs. B&G. Sorry, but organizing a full tournament presents a number of challenges ranging from field availability, to cost, to the fact that the more games required the less people will be interested, and/or available. However, 562 Cup branched out to a number of other games including the LARS Champions League (which was won by Ramses and the South Bay U-25's semi-pro Whiskey + Mermaids, and VSU vs. B&G part II. Consideration has been given to opening the event up (actually, I've been thinking about this for a good part of the year) and the simplest thing is to keep up the tradition.

How do you get on a team? What if you play at both B&G and S&P? Is there a regular pickup in Downey?

Are you trying to insinuate that there's something wrong with me and DogHair?

Actually - Isaac/Fern - please do try to line up some decent refs.

If you can't, then I volunteer Gen Buck.

Fake Edit: We need to do some Scouting Missions to local (or semi-local) bars a couple weeks in advance of game time.

It's a tough job, but I know I'm man enough for the challenge.

Is there a regular pickup in Downey?

Yeah, the old South Gate Division of B&G now plays in Downey. The level is higher I suppose, and we play on turf and Monday thru Friday.

The dude didn't show up today, so we'll have to talk to him about Downey field tomorrow.

If I was you, I would opt for B&G.

S&P will have enough people to field three complete teams come gameday...

If you're not creepin', you're not trying...
