I like White better than Barlow as an MLS prospect.  Said it before but I don't think Barlow has the short area quicks and athleticism for the next level.  He has very good long speed for sure, but there's just not enough points in the game where that matters.  Also don't think he has as much skill as White with the ball.

Will give credit to Montreal though.  Defensively they were good and didn't allow much to Barlow, or anyone else offensively.

It's amazing how many games we won with some of those lineups that Marsch had to trot out there.  We played so many games with a joke back line.   Then over the course of a few years he's able to build a good roster.... And now we can't win.  Some people point to Tyler but those are probably the same people who thought losing Dax would be cripping, or Lloyd, or Sacha.  The coaching and the system is what made this team win.   The roster was never actually good until last year and this year. Before that it was squeezing water from a rock.

A couple of our better players in Murillo and Kaku are turning into locker room cancers where that stuff never happened under Marsch. Now we see guys used and look good, but then they are stapled to the bench for whatever reason like Duncan, Jorgensen, Casseres, and Ivan.

We play moneyball.  The only way to make that work is to have good coaching and we don't have good coaching.  So yeah, we have two problems.  Not spending big money on the roster and a coach who's not getting the most out of his players.

Should have won that game... Have no idea why we went with a formation change after Montreal scored.   Long now probably being out a month is going to make things look really bad.  Armas isn’t a good enough coach to get over any losses of talent.

the weakness with the system is a team that can bypass the press/bunker and launch balls fwd or diagonally out of danger. just look at the ORL home loss, Kaku took us apart that way. MTL bunkered and won. ATL beat us by changing their style against NYCFC first, and used it again to beat us, when we wouldn't do the 5 in the back in the 1st leg, which I clamored for.

Yeah, I think that's more with the pressing aspect.  Any teams who press well are going to struggle most against teams who bunker and play more route 1.

I just think Atl beat us because they were more talented and because we bailed on our system that we've played for the last how many ever years.

Could you elaborate? What are you most concerned about? What particular scenarios?

I just think this formation only runs into issues if the back 3/5 aren't all really good players.  And throw the D-mid in there as well.  2 years ago we were putting Escobar, Collin, and Perinelle out there. Heck, even Murillo was playing as one of the back 3 plenty of times and he's not good defensively at all.   Now we have two legit horses in Parker and Long.  If we can prevent goals, this formation will always create goals in my opinion.  It just throws guys in odd spaces and teams defensively have never looked comfortable against it.

And I really wonder how Kaku does in this formation.  I think it has a good chance of really helping him. It's easier for him to get lost offensively
