Per Dyer

Per source, #RBNY is set to release Muhamed Keita. Talented and speedy midfielder, the former Norwegian U-23 was caught in a numbers crunch.

Also

Per source, #RBNY have signed Wahab Ackwei, a 21-year old centerback from Ghana. Will play for New York Red Bulls II in the @USL this year. Story to come Saturday.

Numbers game for Keita with the INTL spot. Shame that he couldn't get a preseason under his belt, but Jesse must have not been too impressed with him in Florida.

Wahab Ackwei... Interesting

And some here projected him as a starter... Granted he got limited time last year - only 6 games - but he simply didn't perform in that limited time, and sometimes that's the only chance you get. With Kaku and Austrian fellow we just signed, I am not surprised Keita is odd man out.

I guess they were holding on to Keita in case Kaku didn't pan out. Now that he's here, it's pointless to have both. Oh well good luck Keita, we hardly knew ya

So much for our mid season reinforcement last year. Geez, I hope he kept the seat warm at least.

Had said before I wasn't too impressed with Keita and didn't think he fit well. Explosive player but seemed a bit reckless in the way he played with the ball. Then when how much he made came out... Was hoping we could trade him but o well. Clearing his salary is a positive. Plenty of depth now in the midfield so no loss there.

Think last year we had a couple things we we're seriously working on and Keita was the fallback. Marsch mentioned being in on Finlay and I think that was our big swing and it didn't happen. Could have been someone else too.

Not sure how/why RB opened the wallet this year, but happy they did. I was one of those who thought Keita was a solid pick up, but we've raised the bar this year quite a bit

Honestly I think in their mind Rapinoe does the same job they wanted Keita to do but is more versatile so there is no need to keep both.  Have better things to allocate that salary and intl slot on than two players that should be in the 18, but not automatic starters

Disappointed he never got a chance to show what he had. But it's a numbers crunch and a limited numbers of international slots. And with Rivas, Royer, Kaku, Etienne, Muyl, etc it's hard to see where he would get minutes.

Interesting to see if Bob Bradley would be interested in a reunion with him at LAFC.

Thought he would be much better this year but I think kaku and rapinoe take his place
