You guys do realize that McIntosh tried out for NYRBII and we went with Rafi Diaz instead, right?
Team is a joke.
Based on this logic, DC United shouldn't pick up Kemar Lawrence and Portland shouldn't pick up Aaron Long.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Then we waived him and signed him to a USL deal a month later. From someone who worked in the organization, they signed a couple guys (Louro and Diaz) to MLS deals to prevent them from trying out with other MLS teams then waiving them after rosters were all but locked in for the 2017 MLS season. This is why Louro and Diaz were signed late January, waived in March and brought back for the USL team a couple weeks later. The Meara injury scare in April was the only reason Louro was re-signed to a first team deal. MLS threatened to pull the HGP tag if the team waived him again.https://www.newyorkr...az-mls-contract

McIntosh started only 5 games last year for P2, third-most on the team. Was he injured? If not, this moves makes even less sense...

So nobody picked up BWP?
So nobody picked up BWP?
He had little chance to go in the first round since his salary was quite high, but seems quite likely that he will go in the second -- even if for someone to hold his rights.
Because McIntosh has done so much since 2016 that puts him in as an exception to the rule.
My point wasn't that he will be an elite MLS goalkeeper. My point was that "Rafi Diaz beat him out a few years ago" is a weak argument for why he can't be an MLS backup goalkeeper right now. I'd like to see something better than that if I'm going to dislike the move right now.
From ~$700k in cap space for 3 GKs in '19 to ~$250k.

No idea why Louro couldn't have been just elevated to MLS backup under Meara and find some younger guys for RB2.
Anyone feel comfortable with this guy backing up Meara? I don't.
Does it even matter? How often are MLS starting goaltenders injured for long stretches of time? I bet this guy barely plays for the first team, just how Meara barely did when Robles was here.No idea why Louro couldn't have been just elevated to MLS backup under Meara and find some younger guys for RB2.

Injuries happen and we don't wanna be caught being unprepared in case it happens.
