When your captain leaves for less money because the coach won't speak to him, that's worrying.
When the Head of Sport leaves two days before the season starts because the coach hasn't spoken to him in six months, that's very worrying.
When the young player your sold to your parent club, but they loaned back to you for continued development begs to go to the reserve team at Liefering because the same coach berates and emasculates him in front of the team, both in the locker room at at practice, a pattern starts to form.
When three players refuse incoming transfers because they do not want to play for said coach, the alarms should start ringing.
When the coach screams at team staff who made the horrible decision to ride on the team bus from the hotel to the away stadium because he still does not know who he works with, you should question his mental fortitude.
When the coach consistently throws his players and bosses under the bus when his substitutions do not work, rather than accept that he made poor decisions, you should shake your head and roll your eyes.
When the team loses a cup semi final and the coach tells the media that anyone who expects his "young team" to be good enough to win big games, you wonder why you still attend.
When the coach goes after the "experts" for not picking your team to win and then when they don't win blasts the "experts" for thinking the team could win, you pour yourself a drink and change the channel.
Is the roster as good as it should be? No.
Is is difficult to build a good roster when the coach runs out the homegrown captain, the Head of Sport with EPL experience, and the "wonderkid" on a Bundesliga contract? Yes.
The culture within the organization is horrendous. The turnover on the non-sporting side is bad. The rate of season ticket renewals is worse. People have mentioned to their reps that they see other teams hold Meet the Team Days, open practices, Snap and Signs, etc. We don't. The line from sporting has been, "He doesn't want it." He blames covid, but allows his players to go out partying. They say it is MLS regulations limiting contact with the team, but other teams apparently don't have to follow those rules.
Regardless of whether Struber is a good or bad coach, he is toxic. He has destroyed any connection between the fans and the players. He has alienated staff. He refuses to admit when he is wrong. There is no way back from this with him at the helm. To salvage any semblance of club culture or connection, he has to go.
