2017 Felipe - 385 NY
2018 Felipe - 425 Vancouver

2016 Dax - 500 NY
2017 Dax - 412 Chicago

2018 Davis - 261 NY
2019 Davis - 327 NY
2020 ???

Might not be too far off... that said, would be surprised if he's not on the team in 2020. Also doubt anyone would trade us even 100k in TAM for him.

How are those as a percentage of the cap though?

Shouldn't matter all that much I think, we're not in cap trouble and haven't been since MLS started handing out TAM like candy.

the max salary slot is around $500k, which represent ~12.5% of the cap. iirc, 3 DPs = 37.5% of the cap. the minute Davis gets near $500k, adios.

It doesn't matter in that we aren't in cap trouble, but it's useless to compare salary numbers across different years when the cap was different. Paying a guy $100k 5-10 years ago mattered a lot more than it does now because the cap is higher.

Anyways, as a whole I think Davis is probably the best HG on the team at the moment but that says more about the team's current HGs than it does Davis. I think he's a solid, slightly above replacement level player. In a system with three center midfielders (6/8/10), I'd love him to be the third or fourth on the depth chart. Problem this year is he was essentially expected to be #1/2 with Rza's injuries and inconsistency, Armas being slow to bring CCJ and Kaku's transfer saga. He's not good enough for that.

From off-season videos he's posted, Davis seems to have a serious work ethic. If he had players better than him on the roster to compete with and learn from, he seems like the kind of player who would steadily get better over time. My inference could be way off though. But if he's 4th on the depth chart our midfield is probably dominant again.

RED. BULL. OUT.

Yeah, imo, he's 4th.

If you think of talent... i agree that he is 4th. But i think he is a more consistent player than rza.

He is also a better defender than kaku.

I don't count Kaku in the converation wrt the shit load of 8s on the roster. I'd only have Rza back up Kaku every so often, with Valot being the preferred backup at that spot, injury concerns at all. Neither Davis or Cassers, imo, would be parked in front of the 2 CDMs, that's Kaku/Valot/Rza.
