Imagine the Churro sales?

EDIT: How the hell do I direct quote a previous post so it shows in my reply?

I tried "Quote" button" and "Multi-quote" button both to no avail.  (its been a while)

It's still free money, and I'm sure MLS would rather have them play at a real stadium as opposed to Columbia or whatever their next best option would be at that point.

Didnt City have issues at Columbia during a US Open Cup March? I dont think Columbia would let their Nazi fans in.

There is a reason our budget has been lowered in recent years.

I do not believe that RB Global needs our pennies.
If anything, RBNY has been left to fend for itself.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I think there will be MLS and MLB seasons, even if not before July 1. Personally, I think the NBA and NHL are done. Not sure you can bring players back for playoffs if they havent played competitively for months. Recipe for injury.

I doubt the NBA and NHL are going to pass on crowning a champion this year.

Would be great to have city play there.

Would add meaning to derby and City would have to play in a stadium named after another team, an arch rival no less.

I personally wouldn't want NYCFC here. The only way in which I'd accept them playing here is if the rent they pay is the $$ to be used on the roster only. Rent's 400k, then that's ~$6m from 15+ home league games.

The NHL, see 1919 and 2005. It is entirely plausible that the Stanley Cup is not awarded in 2020. I dont know or really care about the NBA.

2005 was a lockout. Different thing.

They haven't even started the playoffs yet this year. I think it would be a hard sell for the league to scrap this season and tell fans that everything they invested themselves into since October was just a bait and switch.

With that 1919 season, it looks like they got deep into the finals before calling it quits.

Wouldnt Metlife Stadium be open at this point. They also do a good job converting soccer, to football, to concerts. They dont need a natrual grass field either. They can play on artificial turf.

IIRC Columbia's stadium didn't meet CONCACAF standards.

In other related news: CONCACAF has standards

RBA would be cheaper and I'd imagine that MLS would prefer to avoid the optic of an 80% empty football stadium, which is ironic, considering they're accommodating a team that plays in a baseball stadium.

Champions League match dubbed "Game Zero" of the Italian COVID-19 outbreak

"It was the biggest soccer game in Atalanta’s history and a third of Bergamo’s population made the short trip to Milan’s famed San Siro Stadium.

Nearly 2,500 fans of visiting Spanish club Valencia also traveled to that Champions League match.

More than a month later, experts are pointing to the Feb. 19 game as one of the biggest reasons why Bergamo has become one of the epicenters of the coronavirus pandemic — a “biological bomb” was the way one respiratory specialist put it — and why 35% of Valencia’s team became infected.

The match, which local media have dubbed “Game Zero,” was held two days before the first case of locally transmitted COVID-19 was confirmed in Italy."
