Anyone planning to go to the U23 game vs. Motown tomorrow night at 7pm at Drew University?

I will be there. It is only a 10 min drive from my job.

Side note: I hate the current format. I wish they would expand it and add more amateur teams. The way the current format is when MLS teams enter there will only be 12 lower level teams left which means 8 MLS v MLS match ups. Half the fun of the tournament is competing games vs lower level competition. I'm not sure how to fix this though? Have MLS and USL teams enter in the same round?

Technically, 4 of 16 matchups involve 2 MLS clubs.
USOC would have to add an extra round, expanding MLS entry round to 32 teams, with 12 non-MLS clubs also facing non-MLS opposition. Thats not going to happen.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Brian Saramago opened the scoring for our U23s.

Dilly Duka equalized for FC Motown. Former RB Hunter Freeman also started for Motown.

Duka with his second. Motown up 2-1 right before the half.

Last five minutes. Still down 2-1 but Motown player and former academy player and USL tryout player Walter Calderon just saw red for a two handed shove in the back and then standing over the player. Should be plenty of stoppage time. The ref left injured (no joke) and was replaced in the 56th minute.

Think the red was for the huge loogie.
Good size crowd. Nice turnout by SW.

And Brooklyn Italians crash out to Landsdowne Bhoys 2-0. While the Rough Riders bear Kingston 6-3 in OT.

LIRR plays Louisville and the Bhoys go down to play North Carolina FC. Motown plays Penn FC

Or, MLS could create a play-in round involving 8 MLS clubs, where the 4 winners become part of a 16-team MLS contingent in the fourth round. The issue would be how to determine the teams. Bottom 8 in the standings from the previous season?

They did used to have open cup qualifying back in the day. I'd be more in favor of some teams entering an earlier round rather than playing in tbh though.

A play-in is the equivalent of an earlier round. The advantage for lower level clubs, is that an extra four reach the fourth round and play MLS clubs.
