It actually made me pretty happy last season when RBNY won the Supporters Shield. Everybody was so angry about it at the time that I was banned from posting on the forum for the entire playoff season. Now this season, RBNY didn't win any trophies at all and people feel exactly the same way they did last season when the team won something. You eventually get to the point where you wonder what exactly is wrong with this team's fanbase, which is why I chose not to pay much attention at all to the team for this past season. Getting banned for over a month for supporting the team taught me a lot about the nature of the community that surrounds it.

I hope everybody reaches deep down, thinks rationally, and considers what being a fan of any sports team is supposed to actually be about: Having some fun with friends and family watching something enjoyable, celebrating the victories, feeling a bit disappointed about the defeats, and then feeling hopeful about the next chance for victory when the next season begins.

Anything less than that would make a person think that maybe the problem isn't with the team.

Considering some of the crazy posts that I have read here over the years, I am surprised to read that anyone has been banned from MF.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Apparently, not being a miserable person is what pushes the admins to the breaking point.

I know that this is an emotional time for fans, but I think it's important to keep perspective. The team can't win a trophy every year. There are going to be ups and downs. Sometimes, the downs feel pretty low. But this isn't nearly as bad as things could be and in the grand scheme of things, this is something we all do for fun.

Over the past year, people in my life became sick and one person I cared about very much didn't make it. Experiencing something like that really changes your thoughts about what's painful and what isn't. Losing a playoff game? Yeah, not a great feeling. Losing someone you care about forever? That's truly devastating.

So hang in there, everybody. Have a pint with friends. Complain about Chris Armas. Enjoy each other's company. And don't let a bad day on the field become something bigger in your heart and mind than it actually is.

Nobody was angry about us winning the supporters shield. People were angry that we went into the playoffs and shit the bed yet again.

You probably got banned because you love posting the same exact shit all the fucking time that the playoffs don't matter.

Well, I mean, they don't. Not really. So it's true. I don't know why people on this forum have to be such babies about it.

The problem isnt with the fan base, either. Observe any other fan base in the world of sports and you will see the same elements bubbling up. It is the nature of sports fandom and the human condition, in a broader scope. Every single fan base has an aggrieved contingent. You could read a Yankees forum and a certain segment would lead you to believe theyre the most tortured fan base in the world.

Thats it! You are banned again until RB loses.

99% of fans think MLS Cup trumps the shield. You do not have to think that way, but having such an unpopular view and constantly pushing that agenda is not really fair to everyone else.

Same percentage once thought that the earth was flat.

Is it fair to fault the minority view?

It's just tiring and very antagonizing. And the OP is aware of what he is doing.

Something is better than nothing, sure. But you don't get a star for a shield and there is exactly zero stars above our crest. Until they award one for SS it won't matter as much as MLS Cup.
