Where do you hang out? I never saw this!
When I was a child my father would carry the house key in his mouth as he walked from the car to the house. And when I was a teenager I would see people at the post office carrying the envelopes in their mouths.
The crowd at the stadium/concert hall wasn't so bad, since the various venues I visited (Madison Square Garden, the Gershwin Theatre, Radio City Music Hall, and the Philadelphia Flyers stadium all come to mind) were all designed for fast, easy egress in the event of a crowded gathering (it helped that I always arrived at least one hour before the start time). What I tried to avoid, however, was the long weekend lines at the public library/post office/grocery store, plus the enormous weekend crowds at county fairs, hiking trails, bars, shopping malls, restaurants, apple orchards, and the Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park. The best time to visit a restaurant is when you are one of a very small number of customers.
