We got screwed on those offsides calls. The Don hates 3-Peats. But, I'm happy we're stepping up a bit and starting to compete just after the 70th minute. Come on!

First goal--poor positioning from Cudicini as Cristobal pointed out.  But his flailing and falling and shit was embarrassing.

Second goal--okay, Perez is way offside.  BUT, how does Cudicini stay put and let a ball bounce just 3 yards away from him.  Seriously?  If he comes out and plays that simple ball, offside or no offside, danger ends.  He really is just a poor keeper.  Simple.  Simple.

I don't get to watch too many full length games these days, and mostly only get to see highlight film, so this is the first full match I've seen Cudicini play.

First Impression:  Wow - this guy is horrible.

He would probably do well in my over 40 indoor league, but he just ain't professional grade.

There are better players on the bench in keys positions to start this game.

It's all very bizarre, yet very normal in the world of Bruce.

LD's absence, Leo, Cudicini, and Franklin playing RM are the four issues the G's had to start the season.

LD's presence saved the game yesterday, but Bruce re-introduced the three aforementioned issues into the equation.

So instead, the team walks away with one point instead of three.  Again, it's strange to return to a plan that didn't work in the past.

There will always be bad calls by the refs in an MLS game... better players get through that and find a way to win.  Offsides or not, Cudicini has to do better on at least one of those two plays..

If Penedo doesn't start the next game, then I don't see the point in bringing the guy in.

I really don't understand Bruce's plan.  Starting Leo?  Why?  Everytime Leo has been on the field, he has sucked.  He wasn't horrendous yesterday like usual, but he wasn't good either.  AJ and Todd had to pinch in far too often, which prevented them from going forward.

Why doesn't Bruce stick with AJ as a center back?  He obviously is so much better there than on the wing.

Cudiccini has to be gone.  Rowe is better, Penedo is better.  Are we back to having "3 world class keepers on the roster"?  Trade him to the goats already.

P.S., I don't like Taylor Twellman.  Shut the hell up already.

I'm less angry with the bad calls by the pro refs as with the other things (Leo, Franklin RM, Cudicini) Lobo pointed out...

Dear Bruce,

Pre-season is officially over! Stop screwing around and put Sean & AJ back. If you must start Zardes, play him at striker. And, please put Leo & Carlo where they belong. Did The Don make you an offer you couldn't refuse?

That would also explain the Magee trade.

Bruce has shown that he understands in MLS it's not about where you are in the middle of the season (or, shit, about two thirds of the way through), but about whether you're playing on the last day.  But he's cutting it awfully close this time around.

Yeah, we were better this year than last through mid-June, but we haven't had the big rush we had last Summer.

On the positive side - Angry Landon returned from the Gold Cup.  And Penedo is now on our bench rather than the roster of Municipal or Communicaciones or wherever he was this Spring, so it will be a lot easier for him to get into games with us now.  Now that he no longer has to be Beckham's caddy, Sarvas has brought a lot to the team this year.

But it's not just Cudacini.  Our marking on dead ball plays is awful, and I think the rest of the league has finally figured out that we're trying to find Omar on corners and free kicks.

We obviously miss Magee - his actual or perceived qualities aside, Keane trusted him, and so Robbie felt compelled to do less. I think Zardes was in midfield Sunday because Keane has lost confidence in him up top.  The two Robbies do not seem to be on the same page (Can there Only Be One?), but who knows why that is.

Bruce is obviously stuck on the "idea" of Sean as a midfielder and Leonardo as a soccer player.  I remember feeling the same way when "Snakes on a Plane" came out.  It was such a brilliant idea, it couldn't miss.  But it did, by a mile.  Bruce needs to change the channel on this idea and keep Sean in the back and Leonardo off the field.

Nothing new about either of these points.  The last three to four years our defense has sucked at marking on dead balls.  One thing about Saunders and Ricketts though, is they were both aggresive in attacking set piece balls in the six yard box... Cudicini is very hesistant.... it's obvious and I'm sure other coaches have noticed this.

The adjustment period is over... it's clear that our italian import is just not good enough.  To many gaffes for a "veteran keeper" with his playing background..

As far as Omar on set pieces... well, he's been the G's only consistent aerial threat in the last couple years.  Beckham's precision on dead balls was probably the difference.  LD and Juninho are decent, but they are not on par with Beckham in terms of set piece delivery.
