CV-skeptic Brazilian president tests positive:

I dont wish life changing harm on him, but I do hope his experience with this virus changes his tune.

NJ to now require masks outside, when social distancing is not possible.

He admits that this is going to be difficult to enforce. I agree. Get your measuring sticks out everyone.

We never should have been in this situation to begin with. Trump should have pleaded with everyone to wear a mask in the very beginning.

Greatest fucking country in the world and this is where we are.

As if people were going to listen to him.
He was called a racist for trying to stop people flying into the USA from China.

More people would have listened. Not all, but more. Which would be better than what we have now.

The China thing is ridiculous.

He IS racist.

Not to defend Trump, but I don't think there were enough masks _at the time_ to achieve that. Also probably explains why even CDC guidance at the time was "masks don't really help prevent covid spread, and they should be kept for medical personnel", which never really made any logical sense except as an attempt to direct availavle resources to hospitals.

Now, after shortages were addressed in March/April, guidance should have swiftly changed.

Why did we have shortages? Because he didnt take it seriously from the get go. He should have been doing everything he could to get this country to ramp up production. There would still have been shortages, but not to the extent we experienced.

Additionally, while riding out the shortages he could have told everyone to wear a damn t shirt around their face.

Far from absolving him from blame. Just saying that at the point in time, in the situation we were in, even if he wanted to*, he couldn't say "everyone should wear masks" as there were not enough masks. Agree with everything else you've said.

*and clearly he didn't

In that case I revise my statement. What he should have said is: everyone should wear a face covering while we ramp up production of actual masks. Once thats done, everyone please wear an actual mask.

Cheers.

I seriously doubt this. Are you making your health decisions based on advice from politicians?

The China thing is ridiculous.

How quickly we forget.

He IS racist.

Sure. Also anti-Semitic, homophobic & anti-dentite.

I am not making all health decisions based on advice from politicians.

I AM making SOME decisions on health based on advice from politicians when they are following the advice of experts in the field.

People do make health decisions (and then some) based on advice from politicians even when it is not backed by experts in the field.

I am not immune to political influence. No one is.

Edit: add sociopath to Trump as well.
