Hamlett's hits since Jesse left:
2019: Trades 100K to move up to take Roy Boateng... and Sean Nealis. (Nealis is the one silver lining in this pile of feces.) Drafts Janos Loebe in the first round. Trades Amando Moreno for Rece Buckmaster. Drafts three more players, one of whom immediately retires.
2020: Trades 100K to move up to take Patrick Seagrist... the pick directly before (and the one directly after) were traded for 75K. Drafts Cherif Diaye in the first round. Takes five more players, who spend minimal time with RBNY II.
2021: Drafts Luther Archimede in the first round. Lamine Conte gets taken in the second, and misses the whole year with visa issues. On the other hand, AJ Marcucci, 67th overall, looks like a steal.
2022: Trades 200K for Matt Nocita, who isn't allowed to play (yet). Trades 75K for O'Vonte Mullings. Drafts a player who decided to stay a school and a goalkeeper who looks to be 4th on the RBNY II pecking order.
It's not the draft that is the problem, it's Hamlett.
Some teams have done worse, some have done better. It might be that hitting on Nealis and possibly on Marcucci somehow puts his moves above average... if not for all the money wasted to move up.
