Can someone please remind me of the importance or lack thereof of nations league and/or gold cup results AS IT RELATES to World Cup qualifying?

I'm not sure if Berhalter is completely settled on the rest of his roster. He prob has an idea of what his ideal XI is, but he knows that they won't play together as a unit often, so I guess GC is solidifying the rest of the roster, and CNL is best possible XI against HON and MEX (or whoever).

RIP Guillermo Romulo, Alexander Francis Orig, Celenio Eleazar, and my Mom, Resurreccion Eleazar.

RIP Cesar Castello, Mike Vallo, Glenn Stampiglia, Bob Paquette, and Warren Lee

I wouldnt completely say the Nations League and Gold Cup are useless. Gives the Coach a chance to settle of the roster and starting 11 for Qualifiers.

I agree, but the results have no impact on qualifying for us. Only bragging rights.

Results from nations league and gold cup are used in FIFA rankings, yes?

And FIFA rankings still determine seeding for CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying yes?

Right. So nothing that happens in the current nations league and/or gold cup affects the upcoming WCQ...

...but because it impacts FIFA rankings it WILL impact World Cup seeding in 2022 (god willing) and the next seeding round for WCQ (2026).

Unimpressive showing v. Honduras.
Miazga subbed on in 89th or 90th.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Adams got a yellow card from the bench (Armando special).

They did a horrible job controlling this game. Honduras could have had 2-3.

Score line will gloss over a terrifying performance.

Honduras should have had 2-3.

FTFY. Don't know how Sargent cleared off the line.

One of the most impressive goalline clearances I've ever seen!

Ream against the Galaxy however many years ago is in the mix too

Sargent played very VERY well...but he has to start scoring.

Gregg mucked this up bad from the start and didnt make any of the adjustments desperately needed at half. Im seriously worried about qualifying.

I always felt prior teams played at a level greater than the sum of their parts - this one, not so much. Something seems to be missing in their IDENTITY.

Add in Adams and Long, and I think the whole team looks more solid. Adams has the skill to free up other midfielders and Long has that underdog edge that this generation of USMNT doesn't seem to have enough of.

I'm still not sold on Berhalter - he seems to be a good recruiter for dual nats, but does not seem like a tournament coach.
