By the way, I really like this Zelaya guy.  Galaxy should keep an eye on him.

Someone on the Gs' facebook page yesterday was talking up Zelaya.  If that wasn't you, I believe we can call it a groundswell of public opinion.  I like the idea of a Salvadorian player on the Gs like in the old days, but more important, I like the idea of another guy on the team who likes to shoot the ball.

Random Thoughts:

1. If you're not happy with the way that the US is playing right now, you're probably never going to be happy with it as long as you live.

2. WTF is it with people throwing shit at players?  If we did that from 138, security would be all over asses, but apparently, security at Baltimore, just smiled and laughed.

3. Landon putting the sunglasses on was epic.  What did the linesman say to him?  No - that's illegal headgear?

4. If there was ever any question as to whether or not Landon would return to his previous form, that question has been emphatically answered with a YES!

5. That Diskerud kid is growing on me.  He wasn't spectacular, but played well.  At 22 years of age, we could be seeing a lot more of him in the future.

6. Side Show Bob had a good game.

7. I doubt seriously that Wondowwlowwski(w) will be going to Brazil.

8. How about Eddie Johson with the score after being on the field 15 seconds?!?

9. Brek Shea improved immensely.  Jurgen must've had a talk with the kid.  The one thing I like about him is his size and aggressiveness.  He even provided an "enforcer" presence when one of his team mates was in a shoving match.

10. I'm glad Honduras beat Costa Rica.  I would hate to have beat the Ticos 3 times in 3 months.

11. The US has 9 straight wins and is undefeated so far in the Gold Cup.

12. Meanwhile Mexico lost to Panama in the group stage and only managed to eek out a 1-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago.

13. While I look forward to a US v. Mexico final - Panama is my new 2nd favorite team!

Jürgy is growing in me. Who doesn't like a smile?

Still worried about Beas at LB.

That video of EJ coming in and walking straight into a goal was fantastic.

Johnson is still no wesley snipes. But that header after 10 seconds was pretty nice.

Comparing us squeaking out a 1-0 win over el salvador years ago to where we are now - my thoughts exactly.

No dual 8s in the center of midfield and bam!  It's raining goals.

Beckerman playing behind Mix was a clutch move.

GAM's subsitution was ace.

Sunglasses Donovan was rad.

I like this team.

This.  Oh, please... this.

We should have put four on those guys Saturday.

Zardes needs to get the ball facing the goal.  Whenever Bruce has a forward that is taller than 5'8", he's wants him to be the next Brian McBride, but that is not the young man's game.

I seriously can't remember the last Galaxy goal that was created by the man beating defenders on the dribble.  Keane tries this all the time, but with (nearly?) zero results.

I'm looking forward to Gold Cup Landon rejoining our side.

Can someone photoshop Landon with ZZ Top?

This would be as huge as the Green Alpine Hats!

Not sure who is doing commentary on Fox Soccer for the game, but on the online feed on first row sports #3, the announcer knows what he is doing.  No color commentary, just play by play, often letting the game speak for itself.  It would be nice if American announcers would learn this style.

Brek Shea has a shit one-touch game.  He was consistently putting his teammates into danger or giving the ball away with his one-touches.  I've seen kids do better.

I was wondering what happened to my post about Zardes in the Vancouver match thread.  It was here... d'oh!

Landon was a boss tonight.  I'm looking forward to him getting re-integrated into the A team.

On to Panama (I hope)

Will be joining American Outlaws in San Francisco for this one.  Would have been delicious to see the US beat Mexico in the final, but less likely to have to deal with irate assholes on the road playing Panama.  Enjoy, fellas.

Random Thoughts:

1. Panama!

2. Landon Donovan!!!

3. Brek Shae!!!!

4. ^^^ Just kidding on #3.

Wow, what a great night of soccer last night was.  The US is finally dominating CONCACAF as we have been capable of doing for years.  To top it all off, Mexico gets beaten twice by Panama, and gets sent packing home.  Not good to be a Mexican soccer fan right now.  I fully expect for the US v. Panama final to be a thriller as both teams are playing very well.

As for our defensive midfielders: Diskerud > Holden > Beckerman

For a "Meaningless Tournament", this has been a lot of fun to watch.

Can't wait for Sunday!
