I think it's just maintaining continuity and trying to develop him.  You play him too early and you could harm his development.  Zizzo shouldn't be playing CB, but I have no problem with them holding off on playing Ndam.  Especially a position like CB where so much of what makes a player good is in the mind.

I think they want to sign a CB, but just during the summer window.  And I don't know for sure, but I would suspect it has something to do with the cap hit.  Considering the fact that Baah is basically someone we can't count on anymore, I think we are probably looking to sign a starting caliber CB, so half the cap hit this season is going to make a big difference compared to the full hit.

That only works if the guy they are planning on signing will make more than Baah currently makes.  An equal or less salary guy would come with no cap hit as a "replacement player".  With that being said, I think you are right.  The supply of high quality guys that would come before July window I think would be slim.

Murillo showed some nice crossing skills. Hope to see him make zizzo expendable.

A replacement player for a season-ending injury has no cap hit, but the money for his salary comes out of the team's pocket. You can connect the dots. :)

You don't think that's babying him a little bit? He's young but not THAT young, and this is just one regular season game. If that level of pressure is enough to break him mentally at 18 years old, then that's another pretty damning judgement itself.

Some things I've come to believe that slows down the growth.  Language and culture are the two main ones.  When you come to a new country and have to learn the every day way of life (especially when it contrasts significantly with where you came from) it seems to take longer to adjust.  Throw in Ndam's age, and it's that much more of an issue.  I have no problem basically redshirting him this season with RB2.  Let him play the entire season down there.  Perhaps give him a taste here later in the season if he's performing that well down there and getting bored.

Given Collin's and DP's age, (and Baah's situation) I think the guy we bring in is going to be a future starter.  I think he's gonna get paid more than Baah.  So basically makes me think it's going to happen at the summer window.

Zizzo as an emergency right back is OK.  Zizzo as anything else... no.  We don't need him though because we have Lade and he's more flexible as he can back up either fullback spot.

Besides Robles, Long, Murillo, Felipe (I guess), & Gilbrandsen on his shot, we did not look good. And I know the easy thing to do is pile on the formation and/or the guys that started.  But we didn't play a whole lot better the last third of the game when Sacha, BWP, & Royer were in and we played the 4-2-3-1.  Maybe KC is just tough at home?  I think they now have 11 wins & 3 ties in their last 14 home matches.

I too hope we sign a starter-type player. The point is that, assuming we have cap space, signing someone in the summer as opposed to now will hit the cap but will be free for Red Bull. If we sign someone right now at sub-250k, he won't hit the cap, but RB will have to pay the salary.

I'd bet good money they are going with option 1; whether the goal is to end up with a better player or save Red Bull money, or the two just happen to coincide, is a different question.

Just in case there were any lingering doubts about the 4-2-2-2.

Passing map in the attacking half for the 57 minutes before Kljestan came on (you'll notice there's none completed anywhere near the goal)

And just to clean that up a bit, here are only the completed passes in the attacking third, shockingly few of which are in the right direction:

To be fair I think KC has only conceded 3 goals all season, they are by far the best defensive team in the league right now.

Oh look CB depth which we all recognized as an issue, is an issue. I thought other than that we weren't terrible. If Gulby puts away either one of those early chances it's a different story.

Back to BWP and SK16 on Saturday pls.

Not scoring against the best defensive team in the league, sure I'll buy that. Not even getting a whiff of the box in almost a full hour of play? Something ain't right.

100% agree.

This was also not the right game to do it in.  We play Philly this weekend.  The USL team could probably beat them.

Honestly this was the game to do it in, its against a west coast team that has only given up three goals all year and it was a midweek game. A loss in this game isn't tragic, a loss against Philly moves them up the table.

Right, you take teams in MLS for granted at your own peril.  SKC was always going to be a tough game, even with Sacha & BWP & Royer starting (they basically did the same as Veron & Gulbrandsen & Etienne - not score and let up a goal).  You have to get the Philly points.

Team was set to fail with Zizzo at CB and that is on Marsch. If he felt that he couldn't play Damien then I'd say YOU NEED TO SIGN ANOTHER LEGIT CB.

Etienne has shown repeatedly that he is tricky but makes bad decisions with and without the ball. Needs more USL time until he plays smarter.

Gulbrandsen was very good. Earned more minutes. Ditto Murillo.

Time to dump Veron.
