Still not open! 16 years!

I remember living in Carlstadt for a year (2008-2009, I believe) and being able to see that monstrosity from my bedroom window. I truly cannot believe this has been ongoing for 16 years.

It's finally looking like it's close to being completed soon. While I read in an article that they were planning a spring 2019 opening, It looks more like a summer to fall opening is in the cards. This thing is going to be something to behold if all the attractions come to fruition. Ski slop, rollercoaster, waterpark, etc.

- Can route 3 and 120 be able to support all the traffic that this will attract (especially from people coming to the city). Imagine Football game days while this thing is open.

- Public Transit?

As an amusement park nerd I'm looking forward to having five new roller coasters (at least one of which is pretty enormous) a train ride away.

I haven't heard any news on how transit is going to be handled. NJ Transit does not appear to be in any shape from a money or staff perspective to expand service, but my guess is there was an agreement between the state and the new developers to provide some minimum level of rail service from Secaucus. The service currently only operates during events.

Far less expensive to provide a shuttle bus from Secaucus Junction.

Cheaper, certainly, but far slower, especially during congested times. It will have a bus hub as well (including direct service from Port Authority I'd imagine).

American Dream has been promoting the rail station, so I bet they got that service in writing when they negotiated with the state before committing to multiple billions of dollars.

Have you taken that train? It is verrrry slow!

OK, but it will still only be a shuttle, with a transfer at Secaucus.

This article states that the state has earmarked $4 Million to expand bus and rail service to the meadowlands.

Another article states direct bus route from New York to Meadowlands.

$4M is nothing to a heavy rail system.
It might buy a few shuttle buses

direct bus route from New York to Meadowlands.

The article also states that a commuter shuttle will run between NJ Transits Meadowlands Station and the Secaucus train station.
That could be a shuttle bus.
