freddy adu followed his dream, played in Europe, got paid and played for usmnt but never lived up to expectations. In other words... a bust. Miazga is in the same path. He will prob be back in mls by his late 20s.

Same thing happen to brek shea, eddie johnson, agudelo, sal zizzo, gyau, kenny cooper... ect

I could go on and on since history repeats itself.

Freddy Adu bounced around the lower european leagues for a few years before coming back to the NASL

Matt Miazga has been on loan at top European leagues, and is currently starting on a Champions League caliber team (as well as the USMNT), while still on the payroll of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

The two are not comparable in the slightest.

The two are very comparable. Btw, adu played in Benfica, monaco, belenenses and aris before he came back to philly. None of those teams are in "lower european leagues"

to say he played there is a bit of an overstatement. he had 11 appearances at benfica, 9 at monaco, and 3 at the portuguese powerhouse Beleneses, 5 at Aris.

If he stayed with rbny ... he would (have) developed into a better player ... been the best defender in MLS

This is possible, but he wanted to move.
Is RBNYs development process better than Chelseas?

He moved to europe and ... barely improved.

It is also possible that this would have happened here.
Almost every young American dreams of playing in Europe.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

there's no development chelsea is doing for Miazga. He's a pawn for their revenue generating loan scheme.

If he stayed with rbny and made long money, he would of developed into a better player. He would of had stability in playing time and a coaching staff that was invested in him. At the time, his focus should of been the usmnt. There was a legit chance for him to start in the qualifiers and help that usmnt qualify to the world cup. Then, you make the $$ move. If he stayed, he would of been the best defender in MLS and wouldnof forced arena to start him in the usmnt. Who knows, maybe he starts over Gonzalez in TT and rewrites history.

He moved to europe and became a bust. He barely improved. He still makes the same mistakes as when he was with rbny. Will he be the starting cb for usmnt? I doubt it. I can see berhalter pick richards, long, brooks and Zimmerman before he picks miazga.

What you call "stability in playing time" might also be called playing time being gifted to someone without having to earn it.  Which might lead to complacency and end up stunting a player's development.

Do you think that the develpment of guys like Pulisic, Adams, McKennie etc. has been stunted because they have no "stability in playing time".  Or to ask the same question a different way, do you believe that those players' development has been enhanced by having to fight for minutes each and every week?

his Chelsea "development" is having played in top European leagues for a few years via loan, something which RBNY would not have been able to offer him.

Compare and contrast to Bradley/Altidore/Jordan Morris. First two came back to the MLS and got paid (don't blame them one bit, just stating facts) and Morris didn't dare to go to Germany and stayed when he had the chance. Their choices may have been the best in terms of personal circumstance, but I agree that they probably weren't/aren't playing at the level they could be if they were challenged in Europe like the young guys you listed. Obviously higher risk, too.

Were there development programs at Vitesse? Nantes?
How about Reading? Even Anderlecht?

Thanks to the dickhead that thought it was a good idea to keep Denis Hamlett in charge for the past four transfer windows.
