English Reporter on twitter says we are going after Gerhard Struber, Barnsley's manager

https://twitter.com/...094325922471940

Edit: very believable as he is a blend of Thelwell's knowhow and RB clubs.  Managed all the youth teams and Salzburg's reserve team at one point.

OMG.  This is his quote after his last game:

“The quality in our offence is OK but we need new strikers. The board knows what we want and I think we’re in a very good exchange. In the end they have to invest otherwise we have a similar situation like the last year.”

He is very prepared for this job.

Plus, their stadium is about the size of ours, and averages about 50% capacity.     He'll feel right at home.

Not a fan of how Marsch left (timing, who he left in positions of power), but one good thing about where he went, is that it showed coaches a path to future success if they do well here.  Struber may have loftier goals than MLS coach and Thelwell can point to Marsch and how winning here can be a stepping stone a UEFA Champions League job.

Is this supposed to be another killer owl reference?

Although if hes expecting a certain level of investment into the squad, some things will need to change around here

Forget about investment in the squad. This guy has a release clause in his contract worth over $1M. He was being considered by Watford and multiple clubs in the Eredivisie.

The fact that we'd even spend that on a manager proves things are changing around here. His contract alone will probably also be very expensive. And I highly doubt he'd be passing up jobs like that to come here and coach NCAAers. Thelwell has definitely assured him we're going to spend.

they are 0/2 for the season and finished 21 out of 24 last year. right at home! ;-)

he saved them from relegation last season.

on a 2 year deal.

Wigan getting penalized points for going bankrupt is what saved them

Didn't realize what thread I was in and thought for a second Carnell or Thelwell had said this.
