Nagelsmann rumored as a possible replacement at Man U. What are the chances if that happens, Marsch goes to Liepzig, and Struber goes to Salzburg before he even lands in the US?

My that's so metro prediction - Struber loses against C-bus, then is shipped over to Austria in the offseason. Ha! For bonus points, Carnell leaves to DC a month before Struber goes to Austria and has a cup winning 2021 season.

In seriousness, I don't hate this. Sucks for Carnell, but it makes it super tough to scout this team. I think it gives this team a better shot at making a crazy run in a crazy year.

Struber article for those interested in German.  link

Notable quote for those freaking out about the Tetteh experience "According to the Salzburg resident, Major League Soccer is to be placed above the Austrian Bundesliga "in terms of its technical characteristics".  So he knows what he's walking into.

Thanks. So from a "technical characteristics" standpoint, its Leipzig>NY>Salzburg>Bragintino ... thats new. Wonder if its a view shared across the RB Global org or just Struber.

It's not necessarily NY>Salzburg, it's MLS>Austrian Bundesliga. Salzburg is clearly head and shoulders above the rest of that league...

True. Still think its a new take from an RB guy- if its wide held belief in RB global that MLS>Austria Bundesliga and more players for Leipzig is the goal - maybe NY moves up in the human centipede pecking order.

The MLS rules structure will always, unless its made less archaic, be the limiting factor.

Liefering is probably just as important as Salzburg because Salzburg can stash their mostly inexpensive young talented signings from all over the world there until they are ready to play for Salzburg or be sold.

MLS and US soccer isnt at the point where teams are stashing young international players in the USL with frequency, so its going to be limited to developing HG Americans to move on.

Adams and Clark are two, but Leipzig and RBG are upset there havent been more.

Thelwells aggressive youth development philosophies jive better with the global plan, and we saw some of that with a bunch of academy players getting minutes in the USL season and all of the older college players being let go ahead of next season.

Won't happen as Salzburg has the draw of Champions League and Europa League still.

Guess what I am trying to say is, assuming this view on MLS quality is now accepted as fact at RB Global, maybe we will stop getting Salzburg "rejects" and start getting quality players that Salzburg needs first team competitive game time to develop. Same synergistic mechanisms, but hoping NY will stop being what feels like Last Chance U for RB Global players in Austria and more like an alternate path to get to Leipzig.

Players on loan from Austria would be only part of the puzzle of an MLS cup winning team - you also need a stable core, a good system, young DPs coming through NY as their first stop on the RB train, etc...

However, if RB sent a real quality striker instead of Tetteh this year, that would have made a difference.

rbny tried to stash young central american, and Caribbean players. Not many made it out.

I guess no hard feelings if you got $2MM for him, but that is some serious praise.

I am sure that he can also save us from relegation.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.
