When you are offered a full ride to Stanford, you will have no shortage of other opportunities in front of you at 20 years old.    If you get a chance at 17 to play pro soccer, you play pro soccer.   He's probably banked most of what he's earned here, and coming from Ridgefield he's not likely to be destitute.

he didn't make a lot of money. that is why him being cut is puzzling. i am surprised that he didn't get traded if there was no plans to bring him back.  he reminds me of Mike Magee.

this is probably a sign that we changing our formation next season and we dont need as much depth in the wings. hopefully he goes to RB 2 but i doubt it.

Maybe a narrow diamond as we tried in the playoff game? But with hopefully at least one new piece

-----white----new ST

----------kaku
-----davis---CCJ
---------yearwood

New LB--parker---long----duncan
------------meara

I think that lineup pushes for top of the east. If we roll with Barlow and pendant though, then expect more of the same crap. The formation isn't the problem

I think they saw he wasn't going to be in position to compete for first team minutes this season, they tested the market and saw no worthwhile loan or trade options, so they did they right thing and let him go unhindered to persue his options.   I would think a loan was a better option given his age and upside, but I guess they just couldn't pull it off in time.

No way that lineup is top tier. Plugging a new ST and LB in there isnt fixing all of the problems.

The midfield is going to need more work and players who can play in the diamond. There still isnt a true defensive midfielder on the roster, and that midfield would get completely overrun by any top tier MLS team like they did vs. Columbus.

I'm less concerned about that defensive midfield (a pre-season together will do wonders) than I am about the quality of the guys they bring in at LB and ST.    That will make or break it.

If someone can introduce Pendant to Five Guys so he gains 5-10 lbs i think that would help things a lot too.

Also i think we have a decent collection of CMs that have played wide before so playing in the diamond with Davis/Valot/Stroud/Clark with a full offseason should be fine.  That said i'd gladly take an upgrade there.  We need two strikers though not one.  I dont want to be one injury away from playing White and Barlow up top again since Jorgenson is not playable atm in this formation.

With Rzatkowski gone there are no left footed CMs on the roster, unless they strike out in the transfer market I find it hard to believe that wont be one of the priorities.

No Davis, Valot, etc. as a starter on that side of the diamond.

As mentioned above, I think that is a big reason that someone like Mines is gone.  Just don't see him fitting in that formation at all and that's the formation that we have to believe that we're going with.

The two strikers are everything.  We are good defensively and can generally prevent goals even with Pendant. HOpeful Pendant is gone though.

You don't think either could play there? I thought Valot improved a lot as a CM as the season went on, and Davis would be much better there than he is at holding midfield.

Think he envisions Yearwood on the right side of the diamond and I think I'm a fan of that.  It looks like those two outside mid spots may be the most demanding in terms of mobility and Yearwood has that at a high level.  Then it gets harder because nobody really fits the other outside mid spot or even the 6 perfectly.

Think its a preference more than anything else. I think Valot has shown he can hack it as a CM.

I just find it hard to believe they are comfortable running back the same starting midfield from the Columbus playoff match. Theres a lot of redundancy with the current midfield options and the roles they are best suited for.

ideally we get rid of one of Davis, Casseres, Valot and replace them with a good lefty CM who is a little more attacking like Rza.  But honestly we dont have to because they could just simply replace Rza and let them all compete to start.  But CM by far is our most overweight position.

True - but Struber has a track record of formation preference and in particular a couple strikers and a narrow midfield... I guess not so much about formation, really, but about who fits into that concept.
