No comment on Michael Ballack, but Goff doesn't fuck around. If he said it, I am sure there will be a meeting.

Because what we need most is another once super Euro vet with a still super sense of entitlement that takes at least a year to adjust to this league and gets hurt in the process.

Agreed. The crazy 26 year old Irish guy sounds way more interesting.

Having a meeting out of respect is not the same as having a meeting to close a deal.

Jack Bell's source that claims we're interested in Ireland also says:

the Red Bulls are not interested in Ballack

I've seen him this season and he could still do a job, especially in MLS. He'd make fools out of so many players in MLS, with that said I'd still rather go for a young DP.

I highly doubt RB officials are going out of their way to meet up with Michael Ballack just to say hi and get a picture with him. Not saying they're close to a deal but I would not find it likely that they'd meet up with any intention other than to at least casually discuss the idea of him signing.

I've held many a "diplomatic" meeting over the years. It is how you maintain relationships with good contacts and associates. You'd prefer not to do them, but doing small favors greases the skids for when you really need something.
