I am sick of this win now at all costs attitude by Red Bull. We should be going after a DP thats 25 or younger that we can build a team around and then be successful for 4/5 years. The way they are building the team, we will have to turn over our core players in 1-2 years time. It is not a method for success or winning trophies in America.

How would we even line up with Ballack? 4-3-3?

But how could a midfield of Ballack, Rafa, and Teemu even work? If we go get Ballack, Teemu would be done IMO and Dax's "bulldog" style of pressing could really be helpful.

With Ballack (4-3-3)

Ballack would be a #10. not a d-mid.
He would also be able to better read henry well enought to get him the ball more often than any other attacking player we have

Replace Dax with Lindpere and you're closer.

Dax will be a utility 1st fill in player on the bench this year for any midfield position except holding, which will be Palsson.

Forget about the fact that he's old.

We don't need another player who doesn't give a shit. You don't win with those guys.

I said it before Marquez came, too.

The problem is not that they're old. It's that they couldn't care less.

Please, please no.

ballack and rafa together in the center of the field? Can you imagine how slow that combination would be? We were already slow as hell last year. Plus very little bite.

I am not in favor.

Apparently, Ballack has signed with ESPN as a studio analyst for Euro 2012.

This convinces me he will be our 3rd DP but will miss most of the Summer as he prepares for the gig, appears on camera and "winds down". What is Hans' attitude towards the classic "club vs. studio" dilemma?

"The company loves its money.

If they could, they'd go to strip clubs and throw naked women at money."

Don't hold your breath, MLS is probably decades aware from producing DP quality players in homegrown academies.

I feel a bit better about Ballack NOT comming after that media conference call a few days ago when Soler said "more options will be available in summer".

5 year plan

Ballack has said that is is able to mulit-task. He will be able to add commentery for the Euro's while miked up on the field in the American "retirement" league.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York.
