Shit's fucked up. NYC's true team is still named after a cocktail mixer, ISIS is partying like it's medieval times without the complementary feast, and the talent from our awesome academy has to get their reps in by playing in my friend's kickball league.

But, what if someone had told you two years ago that within two years, Mike Petke would be our head coach, would lead us to our first major trophy on a bowel shattering night, Thierry Henry would be wearing a black and red Metro captain's armband every game, he would have yelled to the crowd that he knows, he would caringly put his beloved Metro armband on the stand-in captain when he comes out, and that the team would hang the visions above? That's way crazier.

Henry armband actually doesn't look "black and red Metro" anymore.  More like Austrian flag with black duct tape stripes across.

Yeah, they definitely got to him.

Is there any in this rout with authority to treat with me? Or indeed with wit to understand me?

I can't believe that you cynical bastards haven't mentioned the cost of printing a giant flag on short notice -- and how that money could've been used to bring in Xavi, Dinho, Kaka, etc.

Maybe we need to change that then. I'm sure ONE of you guys can create a PROPER captain's armband in Metro colors... I can't do everything, now can I?

All I know is that we're 23 replies into Final Word.

This is like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy all over again. What will the actual final word be?

42?

Seriously, I'd pitch in to get Henry the vertical stripe armband again.

Is it maybe now time to scrap we love you from the beginning of games and start with "As long as I'm breathing"..?

Great job HarlemKnight!  Tom Dolan, as a Real Salt Lake/NY Cosmos fan, deserves no kudos from me...  But you can tell him I said thanks, and this is his payment for meeting Shep Messing.
