We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Word is Dallas will get a fine, no point deduction or awarded to Orlando.

As a Red Bull fan, great news.

Oh MLS. You and your pencil written rules.

Exactly

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Forget pro/rel, shit like this is why nobody can take the league seriously.

That being said, good for us. Hope we dont get into the playoffs because of this and have to listen to insufferable Orlando fans forever.

Frankly, since I am merely a fan and a not a fancy American soccer writer, I'm going to congratulate Wright-Phillips on a well hit goal. If I was an American soccer writer, I'd claim that the recently retired Henry was wearing an invisibility cloak and carried the ball into the net for the obviously unskilled Wright-Phillips.

What can Orlando do (if anything) if FIFA doesn't stand up to MLS?

And if FIFA doesn't set a precedent here does that give them less power moving forward with the whole Yedlin/solidarity fee thing?

MLS officially just fines Dallas. $75k in GAM and $25k fine.

I guess we should try to field ineligible players since we just sit on money anyway.

If it were us, Garber would instantly implement pro/rel just to rel us as punishment.

Am I wrong in thinking that's not a terrible "solution" to a mistake? Presumably they were not trying to intentionally play an ineligible player, and the team did not greatly benefit. Since MLS is doing whatever they feel like I think a point deduction(s) would have been fine too, but a forfeit has a big impact on other teams - Orlando gets free points, two big GD swings, and an impact on the teams in the two playoff races.

Or am I just being an RBNY Homer? 😀

I agree in this particular situation, especially given that the MLS ref crew allowed Barrios on the list of subs (per the ESPN article). But the bottom line is, while in this case the outcome is probably reasonable, Garber's/the league's approach is to make it up as it goes. Could be good if you trust them to consistently make good decisions, but not great if you'd rather have clear rules and consequences. My guess is there aren't a lot of people in the first camp.

I think the problem is that they are breaking clear rules for the situation and there is a clear penalty on what would happen in that case.
To blame the refs is silly. The rule wouldn't exist if the refs were responsible for keeping track of that. Plus PRO officiating is never held responsible for how awful it is. Convenient to start now.

As a Red Bull fan, I'm happy. As a MLS fan, Mickey Mouse.

Consider that Argentina sits in 6th place in South American World Cup qualifying because Chile & Peru were awarded forfeit victories when Bolivia fielded an ineligible player.
