He should be bought out.

You have been a fan of this team for a long time.  Do you think that will result in the money being spent on bringing in a player who is better?

Barlow is currently better. I dont think it would be that hard to find an upgrade.

The most important skill is availability

Neither do I, but that isn't the relevant question.  The question is that do you think the people in charge of this organization can secure an upgrade. The answer to that question is, in my opinion, absolutely not.

Strange way for league to handle giving kai less suspension

This doesn't make a lot of sense. I could be wrong, but I recall one of the "positives" RBNY was pushing was that Vanzier owned up to his mistake right away... Something isn't right.

At this stage, whether or not he can become something, he's better off moving on. Public comments from the team seemed to indicate that Vanzier owned up to his errors and everyone was happy to have him back. Yet, he was relegated to the bench for much of the season. Was that simply because he wasn't fit or was there something more? Reality is, he needs a fresh start somewhere else.

Weird. I think the agreed upon story is that Vanzier didnt even say "Monkey Business" or whatever to a player, and was directed towards the calls a White ref was making.... Definitely unequal punishment as far as my understanding fo the situation

Seems like Vanzeir got screwed based on how lenient the punishments have been for players who very clearly intentionally used racist language.

Personally I think Dante got more because of the long delay it had on the game there was no way they could hide what happened and it had much more awareness. With this situation if you were watching the game you wouldn't really know what happened and the story didn't gain any traction like Dante did.

I think he should have gotten more simply based on his apology being shit since it's the equivalent of someone saying well he started it...

But this is apparently why he got less games...

"He admitted to what he said to Bobby Wood, and I'm told the immediacy of his admission is why he got fewer games than Dante Vanzeir."

Looks like I am unable to reply to your comment.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

This is misreporting:

In April, San Jose Earthquakes forward Jeremy Ebobisse was subjected to a racial slur by New York Red Bulls forward Dante Vanzeir

Ebobisse said it was not directed at him.

(But please let's not rehash it again...)

I'm sorry, I know you don't want to rehash, but I think this part is SO important for the sake of closure and moving on:

"The Red Bulls turned down an ESPN request to interview Vanzeir, but Ebobisse said he appreciated how the program benefited both sides. Cancel culture wasn't the objective, Ebobisse said; growth was. He complimented Vanzeir on his attitude, noting that the Red Bulls forward didn't just show up for the sake of showing up but was engaged in the program. Both players discussed what took place, and at the program's completion, Ebobisse said he felt "comfortable" that Vanzeir had done everything that the league had asked at the time.

"We were ready to welcome him back into the league as long as his teammates were, which they were," Ebobisse said. "In my eyes, accountability doesn't look like kicking someone out of the league or anything like that. It's more having that person acknowledge that they crossed the line, and going through a restorative process that hopefully leads to them no longer doing so. It's also becoming an advocate for players who might not be as aware of the cultural significance and [programs] that are available if they cross those lines."

People directly involved in the situation feel "comfortable" with the way it was handled and the outcome. I know that some people will always have certain criteria and ways they feel about it,but what Ebobisse is saying there at the end of the quote is what is at the heart of (my understanding of) true "anti-racist" practice.

It was overly harsh :)+ . 3 game suspension would have been fair.
