"I met my love, in She-caw-go
Dreamed a dream that we won it all..."

Or we could just go with the original lyrics.

works for me.

I like singing the whole song...

... truth be told, I've never sang it sober enough to jump into the second verse.

Dirty Old Town ( The Pogues )

( Intro vers ) ( D )

G
I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
I Kissed my girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

Clouds are drifting across the moon
Cats are prowling on their beat
Spring's a girl from the streets at night
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

( Solo vers ) ( C )

G
I Heard a siren from the docks
Saw a train set the night on fire
I Smelled the spring on the smoky wind
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

I'm gonna make me a big sharp axe
Shining steel tempered in the fire
I'll chop you down like an old dead tree
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
I kissed my girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

I think we should do the whole song. Can we sneak in a CD of this so people can hear it.

I agree, no point in singing just a few verses. Can we bring in a boom box to play it on?

Has my vote. Good stuff.

It's already on the tailgate mix. You can practice after you eat.

I support the use of this song, and would like to take this chance to add in my own campaign: Come on Eileen. I know Guapo made music for it, since I have it, but we've never done it. I think it'd work great and would be very simple for everyone to learn.

I hope we sing this in Seattle... It's perfect with the references to fire and an axe chopping down the dirty old town.

Not that there was any threat, but this officially makes you all my favorite Pacific Northwestern team in any sport.

I've been down with this every year too. I'll be at the home opener to belt it out.

In our Guinness inspired brilliance last night, we think that if this is going to be a section song, then people need to print out the lyrics, hand them out and teach it on the drunks busses to the matches. It would be easier to teach it to people in smaller batches than at the matches. Hopefully it'll grow more organically this way, and people will start to learn the lyrics.

Thoughts, opinions, or volunteers to do this?

That's a great idea. To get people started it would just take 3-4 willing to sing it, no questions asked. People learn to join in.
