I went to an Austrian league game last year, Rapid vs Graz. Granted, it was only one game (and Salzburg is the best team in that league), but it wasn't exactly wonderful soccer.
Fun time at the stadium, though.

Gulbrandsen was really good, we just didnt give him enough time to adjust. I think he would've been a well above average forward in MLS.
It looks like he had a really good career in the 2nd tier in Germany, which is probably at or slightly below MLS level, so that's one metric.
This guy is not a starter in the AUSTRIAN Bundesliga... I hope he comes here and excels, but Id be happy if he adds depth.
His resume is pretty comparable in quality to Royer. The main difference is that during their time in Austria, Rzat was on a much better team.

Id feel different if they sent us one of their starters. Definitely not complaining about this signing, though. If hes a difference maker, great. But, Im cool even if hes just a useful role player. At least hes a guy, in theory, that can hit the ground running when he gets here. How many of our guys would start on that team?

I went to a Salzburg game last August. Gulbrandsen started and scored. Salzburg won 5-1. The opposing team (newly promoted) was terrible. I think most of the players on the MLS team would be able to play in Austria., and probably some of the guys from the II team. Actually think some of the younger guys like Etienne could do well in Austria.
Salzburg's red bull arena was maybe 20% full for this league game.
I understand that Salzurg's access to Euro competition and proximity to Leipzig attracts talent, but I don't think the league is as competitive as MLS.
Is the R or the Z silent?
We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.
According to the linked article, RZAT is pronounced SHH!
Yeah, almost reminds me of the Duke basketball coach, mike kzryzewski.
Watched a bunch of this dude today and have to take back some of my earlier thoughts about him. After seeing him more I prefer him closer to goal. Initially liked the idea of having him next to Felipe but I think it's almost wasting his offensive ability.
Between what we have, plus him and Kaku, I think we're going to create chances and score some goals. The curious thing will be that a lot of teams have improved, and although that happens every year, it feels like it happened even moreso this year.
cuz of all that TAM, and ATL and LAFC with the big player signings. now it's about improving the rest of the roster, from players 8-18.

Yes. The cop fucking a pig sign was fantastic.
But would Luke Rodgers start in the Austrian League?
