It was on a giant piece of paper that they sent out in the renewal packet.

IIRC, I renewed due to a phone call from my ticket rep, with this unmentioned. First I learned of it, was via email a couple of days ago, as an ultimatum.

It has nothing to do with the front office

You think someone in sales conjured and implemented it without knowledge of and approval by the FO?

I trust myself that if I want to cancel that I can remember to do so at least one of the days in July.

Last thing I am thinking about in July is next years ST.

I do not know why we are arguing about this. It is an indefensible slimy move. I do not care how they got it past the ST fan base. We deserve to be treated with more respect, not be the target of zombie renewals.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

They aren't hoping for zombie renewals, they know that would piss off fans and make them never come back. They'll probably send a reminder out telling you your membership is about to renew anyways. This move makes it easier for sales reps and probably let's them keep a leaner staff. Y'all worked up for nothing.

Of course they are. Otherwise, why mandate it?

Just one more slice in the RB Death Of 1,000 Cuts.

This isn't just a Red Bull thing, they didn't create it, it's becoming more of the norm in all sports. The Devils have been doing it, nycfc and the Yankees are also doing it.

Everybody is doing it, it's good for you!

Maybe we should also play in а baseball stadium like two of those three teams. It's jot FOs fault, it's Putin!

Always amazes me the vitriol used to defend questionable practices by the fo, it's as if people are personally offended or invested.

I mean there's nothing wrong about making a decision about st renewal in july, it's the earliest ever but nycfc does it!

Sometimes I think the entire Red Bull existence has been some 19 year old kids football manager save file he only plays when he comes home drunk. - 'Mibabalou'

Does not make it right.

Imagine the show of hands at a fan forum!
Who wants to renew STs halfway through the season?
Who wants mandatory Auto Renewal?
Someone? Anyone? Bueller?

I'm more amazed nobody on the previous pages even bothered to read the renewal information when the information was right there saying they were going to email everyone about signing the agreement. I don't remember anyone here complaining about this when the renewals went out in July.

I don't defend the front office very often, I just think this is something that's silly to be annoyed about when you can still easily cancel your seats if you're not renewing.

Plus if you cancel in July it's not like there won't be plenty of seats available if you want to sign up again at any point before or during the next season.

As I wrote earlier, I do not recall even reading the renewal mail/emails. I renewed over the phone, possibly during a call about getting an extra ticket for a game. I never saw or heard anything about auto renew, until a recent email. I replied that I would not sign up, then was told that it was mandatory for Red Membership. I had already paid in full for next years ST. What more should they want?

Perhaps this is one fight you should sit out.

Ah yes I forgot, I shouldn't voice a different opinion around here. If you dislike the auto renewal so much you can cancel in July, I'll even post about it on July 1st as a friendly reminder.

Post whatever you want.
I just hope that if the FO start punting kittens, you do not defend it on the basis that they announced it in a mailing.

I would question why you can only opt out in July. You should be able to opt out whenever you want.

The good in this is that it makes the process automatic. If 85% of STHs renew year over year, why waste cycles in bringing them back?

The bad is some people do not want to renew, some want to change seats, some cannot make the decision mid-season, etc.

Personally, if I have been a multi-year STH this is pretty much a non event and I wouldnt get worked up about it but I dont really see it as a positive

They told me about the Auto renew back in August when I renewed. They told me to sign the agreement. I told them I refused. But they took my money. So its either they give me the tickets or they give me a refund. Now while I stay a top of things and know that the opt out period is the month of July some people dont and I really dislike the practice of the autorenewal. It does seem like also over half the teams in major league soccer are now doing the auto renew for season tickets. It seems like the wave of future simillarly to mobile only tickets but I will fight it down to the bitter end.

If there is another fan forum, I can imagine shouts of:
Why Did You Mandate AutoRenew?😡
