My theory is that rbny doesn't have the fitness level they had in previous squads. I noticed that we look gassed by the 70th minute.

I actually think the way we play is part of the reason we've had some slow starts to the season since we started playing Ralfball (including under Marsch).  You need to be fit to play the way we play now, and the best way to develop that fitness is through games, rather than training.  That takes time.

We've also had some exceptionally strong finishes, too (such as last year).

They both did. Etienne was ineffective and eventually subbed off.
Both started. Muyl ineffective and subbed off.
Now what?

We scored two goals and could have had more so...

DEJr is just snakebitten, so many near misses, crossbar, posts. USL seems too easy for him, but just not precise enough at this level, in terms of finishing.

We conceded two and that could easily have been 5.
White was the only reason we scored at all.
Offense sputtered, defense shambolic.
So ...

We've always had trouble scoring against teams that bunker (guess what, so do 99% of teams). Despite this, we scored 2 goals and narrowly missed at least one more (the one cleared off the line).  Aside from all those missed/overhit crosses, I thought we performed ok last night. Defense left a lot to be desired, but given how thin we were due to injuries / rest, it wasn't the worst outcome.

You keep playing them. Casseres looked fine and etienne created chances.

White let his hair brush beneath a ball already heading into the goal, and got lucky with an OG.    Meanwhile, 3,000 balls crossed into the six and no one, including White, could manage to be in position and finish off any of them.

The ball was heading straight to a defender, who would easily have cleared it off the line. Never a goal, until White put just enough on it to have it go over the head of the defender.

100%. There is no goal without White intentionally pushing the ball over the defender. This is not the same as Nealis "goal" on Murillo's shot.

Armas isn't to blame for our fourth choice rookie center back making two mistakes and/or simply not being an MLS starting quality player. This result is not the fault of Armas. With either Long or Parker instead of Nealis in the game it would have been an easy and comfortable win.
