They're gonna start talks with Landy Cakes and MLS for his rights in January. It'll be interesting to see how this plays if he does sign.

Jealous America doesn't have a frugal, prick as an asshole? I hate the man with a passion but i'd stop hating him for those games he plays with America. Unless he pulls an Eric Wynalda with Leon, where he sucks. Then the hate comes back.

Though you all may hate Landycakes, I do ONLY respect him on a USMT level.

I've heard nothing of it. Not sure why he'd go there. Some months back there was buzz about him going to France. According to Ives a few other MLS players are expected to depart in January (read that however you like...it's Ives).

Let's do the math here... do you think it'd be worth it to the people of Mexico to take up a collection of a few million dollars to sign Landon to a contract just to have a player down there "Burton mark" him out of a World Cup appearance?

Not sayin'... just sayin'.

i think the team that was interested in landy cakes was PSG. i still don't like landy cakes, even if he is wearing a USMNT jersey.

Hated is not enough of a word to describe the feeling towards him.

I dought that donovan would actually sign with them, but it would be very intersting if he did. I respect donovan as a player and think he could do well with america, this would be a HUGE story if it happens, and I bet club america would make a lot of money and gain a ton of attention by signing him.

well the whole thing that i would like the league to explain how next year the whole DP thing is going to work. because if i remember correctly that when the DP rule was established that certain players that were making more than league max at the time(eg donovan and ruiz) would be grandfathered until i think the end of this season. know if LA wants to sign him again will they need to trade for another DP slot or will the league bend over for LA again? does anybody know?

I believe the grandfather clause is actually voted on every year. It was initially a one year deal and I assume the league didn't want to make LA destroy their Beckham laden team after his first year so they keep grandfathering Donovan in.

Everyone also hates Club America, so it's a match made in heaven.
"Dave Checketts and SCP Worldwide partners Dean Howes, Kenneth Munoz, Michael McCarthy and Chris Bevilacqua, chose Real Salt Lake for the team's name because they desired to associate the team with a successful soccer club, and "Fire" was already taken."
