If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

Have no problems with this. Have said a few times how pleasantly surprised I was in his play. Thought he was MLS quality. In my opinion, he's a spot starter at this level. Does a lot of things well and has better quickness and athleticism then many things suggested during his draft year.
Thinking we see this:
Basuljevic and someone else playing entirely in NYRB 2, with Davis, Felipe, Adams, and Metzger playing with red bulls 1.

good for him making good on hooking back up with NYRB2 and playing his way into the first team.
interesting announced by Jesse.
Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

I've been critical of this organization on many levels, but you gotta applaud how the Metzger situation was handled through the years. From not signing a homegrown (for whatever reason) to being drafted/cut by the Scum to becoming a key USL piece to a MLS player. Good for him, and good for the organization to keep his dream alive.

Everything I heard was that his attitude/lack of humility was what held him back, not his talent or heart. Seems he worked through that.

Assume he will be a backup primarily this coming season. Does he project to being more on an MLS roster or will he primarily be a depth guy throughout his career?

Can anyone state as to what are Metzger's strengths as a mdifielder? Is he a "dax clone" or is he a real dirty player/dark arts specialist like Felipe?

Defensively, Metzger is quiet- in a good way. Knows how to slow the game down when it's getting wild. Can anyone state as to what are Metzger's strengths as a mdifielder? Is he a "dax clone" or is he a real dirty player/dark arts specialist like Felipe?
However, he gets into the attack quite a bit and can thread a pass very well.
Read the college game better than most. There was a reason he was a mainstay in all the US Youth teams.
Weakness is that the MLS game may be too fast for him. He isn't a big player and the physicality of the league showed when he was with DC in preseason.
The knee injury slowed his progression but he looked very sharp at the tail end of the 2016 championship season. He meshed very well with the team.
I personally had it ranked: Adams, Metzger, Speedy Williams. Others rated Speedy above him.
The whole pro experience has humbled him and Woly has helped him tremendously.

thx!
so it sounds like he'd be at Felipe's position, should he ever need a rest.

Glad that Metzger finally got some first team time, even if it did come in injury time. His road here was anything but easy.
