What changes would you make?

For me, Marsch is out. Kljestan, Felipe, Veron, Perrinelle, Lade, Baah, Collin, Zizzo also are out.

My starting XI for next year would be:

GK: Robles
LB: Lawrence
CB: Long
CB: ???
RB: Murillo/???
LM: Royer
CM: Adams
RM: ??? (DP)
LW: ??? (DP)
CF: BWP
RW: ???

Need to make a lot of changes and signings.

Its too soon for me to say, but #1 on my agenda right now would be finding out what I have to do to keep Adams from going overseas.

Give him Kljestan's DP slot? Or is he not worth that?

Give Adams a new young DP contract. Hopefully he takes it and stays one more year. And if he leaves the following season at least we'll get transfer $$ for him.

Don't re-sign Sacha.

Lose perinelle

If we can keep Escobar I would give him another shot. Thought he had a few rough games but he is young and can improve

Sign a physical forward (someone like Abang). These long hopeful balls to Veron or BWP are frustrating. No Brandon Allen though.

Lose Collin

Lose Zizzo

Sign a bona fide starting CB. Unlikely we get one within MLS. We'll probably need to get one from abroad. Need a physical guy like Collin/DP, but younger.

The rest I would leave as is. We weren't a terrible team this year, but injuries took their toll. If Baah is healthy, wouldn't mind seeing him + Long + new CB as the starters. Kemar and murillo wings. Fit Tyler Adams in the center of the park where he belongs.

Realistically I'd keep BWP, Veron, Royer, Felipe, Lawrence, and Adams as starters. I'd like to see better center backs that can help control the game and more creative/skilled midfielders. Stache is old and slow, gone. Davis isn't good enough either and I don't want him starting. Guys like Etienne Jr never even show much promise so I'd honestly look to improve our bench. Our window is shrinking and we need to re-tool or we'll soon be irrelevant. I'm tired of JM but I'm tired of the coaching carousel too. I just don't know that he's really ever been good at changing games. It takes a great manager to identify ON THE FLY what isn't working and what needs to change to get something going, and he's not good at that.

Gone: Baah, Collin, Zizzo, DP, Sacha, Duka, Grella (sadly), Veron.

Starting lineup for opening day:

Robles

Murillo, Long, New CB, Lawrence

Felipe

Keita, Adams, Royer, New MF or F

BwP

Bench: Meara, Muyl, Escobar, Davis, Bezecourt, Etienne, Valot

Need new DPs at CB and F.  Final seasons as starters for Robles and BwP.  I think Robles is starting to lose some of his sharpness. Transition to Meara for 2019 or look to trade him.  Let BwP coach in the Academy after next season; I suspect he'd like to stay in the USA. Consider moving Muyl to right or left back...certainly if we don't keep Kemar.  I'm torn between throwing big money at Adams and turning the team over to him, or selling him to a European club for big $$ and helping him further his development overseas.

I think we have a good squad to build upon.

I dont think we should fire marsch. I think marsch style of play gets a lot out of lesser players. But we need to get another difference maker on this team.

The starting line up should be:

......................bwp...............
...........Royer..felipe..Davis
Lawerence...Adams....Muyl
..Baah/Escobar..Long....Murillo
.....................robles.................

Out
Sasha - could still be a very good mlser. I think felipe could do a better job. Sasha has value and we should get allocation.

Zizzo - prone to too many mistakes.

Collin - too much money for a guy that doesnt play and looks slow.

Grella - not needed on the team.

Metzger and Allen - too old to develop. Should be given a chance to find a job at another mls team or usl team.

Perrinelle - too old and slow.

Call up
Bonomo- i think the 6'2 size could be helpful when we r pinned.

Mines - crafty midfielder

Powder - decent wingback. I would like to see what he can do in mls.

In my wildest dreams...

  • Sign a Giovinco-level attacker to replace Kljestan, offer him a low-level TAM contract or let him walk.
  • Sign a DP winger to play opposite of Royer
  • Pay down Veron's salary with TAM and start to give him a few more of BWP's minutes
  • Sign an elite CB aged 27-30 to replace Collin, keep Escobar and Baah as depth
  • Sign Adams to a young DP contract to ensure the inevitable transfer fee
  • Give Marsch another year with the benefit of an actual off-season where we sign actual players

Realistically, all of that can happen within the Red Bull's current purview except for the first one, which poses a really difficult question. If Kljestan is no longer fit to be the centerpiece of our entire attack, is he worth keeping around at all? His lack of athleticism makes him a poor fit anywhere other than attacking mid, and nothing about his ego says he'd be willing to take cut in either minutes or salary.

Marsch out

If Veron doesnt count as a DP then him staying wont be the end of the world.

Id keep colllin if he shows hes healthy in preseason at a deep discount.

Perinelle out

I hope the new coach moves Klejstan back as a deep pirlo type playmaker

Shop felipe for allocation money and sign a pit bull DM ball winner.

Hopefully Bah is the real deal

Zizzo out

5 year plan
