we had such high hope and he ends up in Kazakhstan? Im speechless. Maybe he was just a bad player? I thought he was good in the couple appearances he had.Baah signs in... Kazakhstan (Greatest Country in the World!)
With Kairat's second team, will play in the second Kazakh division until he is back to full strength.
Wonder if Lloyd Sam helped him get that deal...

He had a severe injury to his leg. That tends to change what a player is capable of.

One of the greatest signing failures of the Curtis era. At least with Veron, he eventually produced. Baah only played ten 1st team matches in 2 seasons.

Kinda tough to blame Curtis for a freak injury

A GM in any of the 4 other NAmerican sports signs a guy they expect to perform, and is an injury bust? It's a failure there, should be one in MLS as well.

If multiple injuries occur, then yes.A GM in any of the 4 other NAmerican sports signs a guy they expect to perform, and is an injury bust? It's a failure there, should be one in MLS as well.
But one freak leg injury that resulted in the inability to play can't be on Ali, unless you blame the S&C coach and with the frequency of injuries that year, that's acceptable.
In fact, if Baah is on anyone, blame Denis. He completely botched his return for last year and my understanding is that if fans knew what really happened, we would have been pissed. Don't really know what that means, but sounds like someone messed things up when Baah was ready to go a week into the season and then couldn't even play with the USL team until August.

Wasn't Baah barely even running just weeks before the start of 2017? I never understood why they thought he'd contribute to begin with.

I don't know what this means. If a baseball fan is blaming the GM for an otherwise healthy player snapping his leg while rounding the bases then that baseball fan is an idiot. It would be one thing if they had a guy with a history of ACL injuries and then he tore is ACL. Then you could say that the club should have known what they were getting themselves into. But what happened to Baah was a fluke. Dennis Hamlett isn't Miss Cleo. He can't predict random events that will happen in the future.

Clearly, a broken shin 6 years prior should have been enough to know he would almost certainly break his leg here.

I don't think they did really expect him to be a big factor. THey had Collin, DP, and Long. 3 guys they knew were starters and you usually don't go more than that. This year we have 4 guys we know are starters and the 4th was only added lately.
The issue was just Collin getting hurt.
We have a salary cap so it's not like we can afford great coverage everywhere. Funny enough, we seem to have that this year though.

New TAM rules and the cap going up ~5% (roughly 200k).

They had to have gone into the season expecting Baah to be the starter along with Collin, at least if healthy. He was getting paid enough to, Long wasn't Long yet, and Perrinelle was coming off a major knee injury at 32.
I just don't see how they weren't able to react earlier to the severity of his injury. We should have had a replacement in by the end of March.

Amen, brother. What an honor and luck for Baah to get picked up by Kairat and have a privilege to play in the second division of the Greatest country on the second (junior) squad! Just to be hearing this before every match is incredible thrill: https://www.youtube....h?v=UfPrQqbikb4 . Looks like everything worked out amazingly well for him after all.
