he was clipped and made it look bigger than what it really was with that dive. still shitty to see as an American.

That red card was embarrassing and anybody who gives Davies crap should be giving Jones an equal amount of crap. That was a gift, I think the refs were told to make sure it's a US/Mexico final. Not really, but...
Dempsey's goal was nice in the sense that it's nice to see Dempsey want to step it up, but Jamaica had already given up by that point it seems like. They were down a lucky goal and down a man on a stupid call and were practically walking into the locker room by the 80th minute.
We're so much better without Jozy. Maybe if we can't get Bob fired, the players that he insists on playing can just get hurt until he has to field a decent lineup.
I LOVED the "Love the team / Hate the fed" banner prominent in the stands. That was awesome.

Sorry but I can't get behind this. Keep the fucking politics out of the game. It's a sport, and the last thing that we need is politics creating factions and dividing the fans.Ricketts was a monster, and would have stopped Jones' shot if it wasn't deflected by their own player.

Doesn't 'Fed' in this context = US Soccer Federation?Sorry but I can't get behind this. Keep the fucking politics out of the game. It's a sport, and the last thing that we need is politics creating factions and dividing the fans.

Possible derpy question here: With "hate the fed," do you think they were referring to the Federal Reserve (in which case, WTF?), the federal government (in which case, I agree with Riggs and still, WTF?), or the US Soccer Federation (in which case, maybe gametime isn't the way to address it but I can't really blame them)?

You know what, you're right. I thought it was some Ron Paul stuff. Should've been a bit more clear I think, like "USSF."Doesn't 'Fed' in this context = US Soccer Federation?

I agree. In their search for a concise slogan whose rhythm pleases the ear, they wound up with a crappy banner. I've never heard the USSF referred to as "the Fed," myself; have you?
Fake-ish Edit: I'm clearly just trying to beef up my post count to 500 with comments from the peanut gallery.

That first half was great to watch. Timmy vs Donovan was great to see.

You have to look at it in the context of the banner. "Love the team / Hate the...." Fed is contrasted to team, which is clearly the soccer fed. Or were they talking about the women's soccer team?

WNT fans tend to loathe the USSF too, mostly because they seem to think '99 means they never have to promote the team or acknowledge its existence again. You have to look at it in the context of the banner. Amen.Jones; what a cocksucker for diving.
Was I happy we got the call? Yes. But disgusted at how it came about. Divers stink. Jones has a bit too much "Euro" in him. Does he really deserve to play ahead of any of the other scrubs we have at our disposal? Not from what I've seen.

At least he's mastered the bank shot off the defender. God, I hate Jermaine Jones. I wish Maurice Edu would throw him down a stairwell like in "Showgirls."Was I happy we got the call? Yes. New Team USA MVP Sacha has been resurrected. It's a miracle! But, I STILL don't understand why he and Jr. get free reign and others don't.
It does look like Demps spoke up enough and got his spot up front.
I like Bedoya starting. But in order to correct the fiasco of Sacha on the wing LD still has to sacrifice. We only really start to click in a way where we can score multiple goals is when Demps and Agudelo are up front and Landon is underneath roaming from left to center to right and back. We've been ending games playing that way. So, I don't see why we never start the lineup that way.
I think Jones continues to get the start because he hustles and covers and tackles. I still think Edu the Ranger is the best choice in central midfield over both Jones the Rover and Michael the Villain
I hope we beat Panama. Then, I'm torn between wanting to cheer on a Gold Cup win at the Rose Bowl and knowing an embarrassing loss at the hands of Mexico will free us of Bob.
USA!
P.S. I'll be watching game in Tucson. Anyone know of a good soccerpub in Tucson?
