With Zlatan, I think three in the back made sense. Against Villa, Id rather have a second deep lying CM that can keep up with his pace. We dont need the physicality/height of a CB in this game.

Yeah, doesn't have to be Collin there. Could easily be Murillo or Escobar.  Just like the shape of the team better in the 3-3-3-1 better.  Think the balance is great where the 4-2-3-1 not as good.  Also think it just suits our personel better.  Royer is better in it. It moves Taxi and Murillo farther up the field in general and both of those guys are good offensive players for their position.

THe only reason it didn't work as well last season is we didn't have the horses at CB.  Now we do.

agreed at CB. having Long and Parker has done wonders, it's less stressful to watch, that's for certain.

i remember Royer's goal-scoring form occurred more in the 5-4-1, cuz Royer's closer to the goal in the fwd channel rather than him on the touchline cutting in.

It's an adventure watching Sean Davis in the Felipe role shielding the back3. Not sure what to do there, but if it works, so be it.

Ya, gotta say I'm not completely comfortable with Davis yet in that spot.  I have learned to really like Davis as a player though and really like him on the field.  I have faith in him that he'll be a good player at just about anything he does.  Just needs some more games in that formation, and in that spot and I think he'll figure out how to best do it.

I don't think Hartford is as good as their record this year.  Think they've played a not so great schedule and seem to be catching teams at the times where they aren't playing well.

As Ig just noted, they beat FCD, who were previously undefeated.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I dont want Collin to see the field and I want a goddamn clean sheet. The teams defending took an early season vacation the past two games. Just an absolute dumpster fire. Refocus and put up a 0 please.

as of right now, there's 1300+ seats on stubhub for this game. There's also pretty much the entire top half of the stadium open via Ticketmaster (i.e. not resale tickets, but directly from the team).  If we can't sell out a game vs the Blue team on a warm 70 degree Saturday afternoon, I don't want to hear any bitching when they move the team to Austin to take on the Crew in the new Austin Derby.

The problem is, a 2:00 game leaves barely any time for people to get home for the 5:00 Celtic/Sixers tip off, not to mention all the Kentucky Derby undercard races.

Haha. In all seriousness, the 2pm kickoff time is actually perfect considering the Derby and the NHL/NBA playoff games are later in the day. That being said, I don't think this game is selling out. At this point, the only game that would be a sure sell out is an MLS Cup Final. FWIW, the poser team attendance hasn't looked much better. O well. South Ward will be rocking. Lets just get the W.

There are pros and cons to any game time. Some prefer Saturday, some Sunday. Some prefer afternoon, some evening. You cannot satisfy everyone. We, apparently, cannot even satisfy 15K.

I am not as optimistic, either about us hosting the final, or it being a full house.

poser team att... hasn't looked much better.

Announced 22K last night.

South Ward will be rocking.

Of course. What would RBA be without us? Still, not everyone in the SW is participating in the ruckus. Too many observers.

Lets just get the W.

Dont care how, either. Soft PK, own goal, keeper howler, etc. Just Do It!!!

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I am uncomfortable going with the 3-3-3-1 against NYCFC. Davis as the lone d-mid will create many opportunities for NYCFC to create mismatches to find Villa. They excel in those types of moments and will pass through it. I think having Davis and Adams protecting our CBs and Zone 14 is smarter. I also just feel that back four needs to be trotted out more frequently, as the Long/Parker duo is strong.

People just don't care all that much about the MLS in this area and the new factor of nycfc has worn off and has shown in their attendance as well.

From a couple of pics via twitter, even though they had 22k v FCD in the Bx, didn't look like 22k at all. only the SG sections looked full.

i actually wouldn't mind the 3-3-3-1 at home vs the blue team but not with Davis back at CDM. I think Adams' natural position is CDM and it's a night and day difference between when he's there and when he's not. I personally thought Adams was invisible vs LAG languishing somewhere over on the right hand side?

against NYC I would go:

---------------BWP

-----Royer----Kaku----Davis

---------------Adams

Kemar------------------------Murillo

-----Parker--Long---Escobar

----------------Robles

We don't need to overthink the lineup too much. We pretty much have 9 or 10 automatic starters at this point.  The only spot that's really variable is that right mid, which could go to Valot/Davis/Muyl/Rza without a drop off in quality.

Or Etienne. The attack just flows better when he's out there.

Regarding the game time, it was always going to be earlier in the day to cut down on the amount of time people have to drink as a means of crowd control. I trust those hooly-wannabe fuckers to keep their hands to themselves about as far as I can throw them.

As far as formation, I think I'd rather go with the 4-2-3-1. NYCFC is always going to play out of the back. It's what they do. That five man midfield floods the center of the field and has has guys to press their defenders up the field.
