Very long time soccer fan here, probably longer than most of you in this forum, born and raised in a country where soccer is everything. If there is anything that I have learned is that the more things change, the more they remain the same. And in circles we go around and around.
Good and bad club officers will come and go. Good and bad 'sporting directors' will come and go. Good and bad coaches will come and go. Good and bad players will come and go. Fans will come and go. For all those that leave, others will arrive.
Some generations will only know despair while others will only experience success, some a bit of both. At the end, most fans continue to follow whatever team is left.
What I also know is that memory plays tricks on us and we tend to yearn things from the past, and the further back we go, we tend to romanticize those memories when in reality it was not that peachy. As much as I don't like the current regime, I can recall that the prior one was its own shit show.
We might get a new ownership group, the 'right' group, and chances are that they will also screw up at some point and lose their focus and we will find ourselves in the same situation. This too my friends shall pass.
Yeah and as I fan of the Nets since the 1970 and islanders since 1972 you can say that about a lot of franchises/clubs in multiple sports
