Duncan, Valot, Barlow, Omir...ouch! Those guys couldnt complete a pass tonight. Out of position often. What a poor performance from them.

Lack of goddamn heart yet again. The scum was destroyed by injuries. We control the whole fucking game in every stat but we dont step on their fucking throats. Let me in that goddamn locker room and rip these players to shreds. They may night not like me but this is what they need right now. A good fucking talking to.

Nah. Its not like they didnt dominate much of the match, they just have no offensive skill. They have shown several times in the past few weeks that they cannot break down a defense that is even a little bit organized.

I dont know. This has the feel of a trap game to me. 1-1 draw or, God forbid, 2-1 loss. If anyone can snatch defeat (or a draw) from the jaws of victory, it is Armas.

Hmmm...I got the score wrong.

Harsh Red

Appeal that red to get Parker back for the next match.

Is Jensen now in the doghouse with Armas or something?

Also why isn't White starting every game?

I think Meara is a better keeper than Jensen...glad he is getting the starts.

#1369740 BWP signs with LAFC

I feel that RBNY, after retiring his number (prematurely in my opinion...should have waited for him to retire) kind of owed it to him to let him retire from his playing career a Red Bull. Should have made him a reasonable one-year offer to play, with a position within the organization waiting for him. If he rejected it fine (and on him) but I feel like it was at least owed. I know Red Bull would never do that, but many solid organizations would.

None of these are bad, but if this is all they do... it's not enough.

How about if Armas is cut loose before the New Year? That might be enough for me.

#1368950 MUYL TRADED

Posted by MTF on 11 August 2020 - 02:48 PM

I think this is a mistake.  I am not under the illusion that Muyl is a great soccer player, but he is the type of player you need on the field in MLS.  Hard nosed, brings a lot of energy, can play in a few different spots in a pinch.  I could see Muyl becoming a Jeff Larentowicz type, surviving because he will play every position hard even though the skill is a touch below average.  Larentowicz made himself a valuable piece in MLS and I think Muyl will do the same.  You need these grinders in MLS with the rigor of travel and the uneven level of play.  In Orlando, this team played flat with no energy and urgency.  This move will exacerbate that.

Lets not all fall in love with Muyl now that he is being traded. Gritty homegrown player and good bench option who was afforded several years to develop further. In reality with Omir now coming off the bench Muyl was surplus goods. Good move in my opinion...unless he becomes a 15 goal scorer for Nashville! Thelwell is getting to work. Armas will be cut loose in November methinks.

#1368159 Can we bring some real talent here?

Posted by MTF on 24 July 2020 - 09:47 AM

Some random thoughts:
Meara - give him a chance or cut loose, he has earned that
Jensen - not impressed
Duncan - starter
Nealis - 4th CB
Parker - make or break year
Tarek - 3rd CB, indifferent
Tolkin - real potential
Mines - too small, USL player
Muyl - high energy super sub
Omir - the next Muyl
Rza - past sell by date
Royer - aging out like Menudo
Kaku - hasnt increased his value, invisible against Cincy!
Davis - trade bait, dont resign
Barlow - USL
White - potential second striker / off the bench
Jorgy - project over

It is just not in this clubs DNA to win knockout/must-win games (the Shield victories notwithstanding). Two Open Cup finals, one MLS Cup final, countless years of playoffs. Tonight. When the team was successful and winning Shields it was as if Red Bull Global built a European team able to grind out regular season results and wrack up points. RBG was content to win those Shields. It was what they knew. If Salzburg or Leipzig won a Shield in Austria or Germany it meant they were champions. New York was a champion in their minds. They have never constructed a team capable of adapting and winning in different ways. It has always been about the press and grinding out results. Draws were almost as good as wins as they meant points. I am not sure you need that killer instinct to win Shields, it is more about being consistently good. Im happy about those Shields but I have always felt this team NEEDED to win that 2017 Open Cup final to crack that cup curse.

Personally, I would put Royer and White up top and would start Rza over CCJ. Bring Muyl and Omir on at 60 to run. I dont know what Meara is doing in training but I am not wowed by Jensen. Give him the start. Treat this match like a knockout game...Meara has been our US Open Cup man.

I can see it now: The New York Red Bulls have signed Lionel Messi to a four year, $100 million, DP contract through 2025.

Messi?? Hes washed up! Too small! We need someone who will put in the defensive work! Ball hog!

Will RB spend any money in this truncated season?
Especially for a brief rental?

I doubt it. I think 2020 is a complete write-off. My hope is to see them play some (any) soccer this year, and get Thelwell here and working. Start planning for 2021.
