The crazy thing is that Panama could get out of that group... England and Belgium are both capable of falling on their face. Belgium ridiculously talented but rarely play to it.

Is England overrated? I feel like everyone thinks they suck, including the English for once.

I frequent a Newcastle forum and the universal opinion on there, since I can remember, is that their national team sucks horribly and there's a significant dwindling interest.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Spain fire their undefeated coach:

Who had just accepted the head coaching job at Real.
Given how specifically political the Spain job is, not surprised

Articles leaning both ways, on whether the squad supported or opposed the coach after this. Most claim that the new Spanish FA president made up his mind as soon as he heard, and would not listen to anyone else.
We will soon know if this affected the team.

I feel like the English always think that England is just bound to underperform rather than accepting that they're just destined to be a slightly above average team at the World Cup. They're a R16/Quarterfinal team at best.
I'm rooting for Murillo/Escobar to personally embarrass them. That's the closest thing I'm doing to rooting for anyone this year.
If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

Go USA! ... Oh... *sigh*
Too soon...!
Not to derail, but did anyone think ESPN did a particularly terrible job with the last world cup? I thought they did OK, even though most of what went on between the matches was relatively empty headed. On a forum today someone was ranting on about how terrible the coverage was, he preferred to watch in Spanish even though he didn't speak it, how could anyone defend ESPN etc.
What I've seen of international coverage by FOX makes me think the games themselves won't be any better and the goofball quotient between matches will be higher.
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

At least ESPN had a lot of people in Brazil. Fox is just sending two announcing crews to Russia... pathetic.
