When Red Bull first bought the team, their approach was to bring stars to NY (Henry, Cahill, ect). They changed philosophy in 2015, and I do agree that they really could be running this club anywhere in the country. Being in NY now adds very minimal value to the club, even though our location SHOULD be our greatest asset. NY and LA teams should have an advantage over any other city...but now Red Bull never takes advantage of the NY location.
They use the NY location.....just more for the NJ/NY metro pipeline of youth talent to grow and sell. If the MLS club does well, cool....but that's clearly not the priority.
