Is LA cheating?

Haters.

I know it's late in the game, but this is perfect for a banner.

Get Beat. "YOU GUYS CHEAT!" To some effect.

What a cry baby.

"THEY HAVE BETTER ACCOUNTANTS THAN WE DO!"

Did he forget that he's coaching a team in a single entity league, with a salary cap?

I'm also pretty sure that you can save allocation funds over time to pay down people's salaries to stay below the cap. The only problem with that strategy is that it's not long term. After this season we will get dismantled, guaranteed. We won't have the allocation money to maintain the cap space.

...And if you look at the other Galaxy starters (guys like Mike Magee, Sean Franklin, A.J. DeLaGarza, Josh Saunders, etc.) they are mostly mid-range MLS salary types. Otherwise known as “guys making around 100K.”

Chi Chi Magee is underpaid.

Leonardo off, Boyens on disabled list

Leonardo already played like a slow movin tank before his injury, so a year out and coming back from such an injury certainly won't have made him any better, nor has the little training/reserve minutes made him anywhere near ready to play IMO.

If he sees minutes soon, Bruce is really desperate or the team simply lied about his recovery.

Compared to plenty others I don't his return will simply solve the G's problems. They are too numerous and not just defense related IMO.

If I'm wrong I won't complain though ;)

Wasn't Sao Paulo supposed to be paying part of Juninho's salary?

Also, Buddle may be making this much, but depending on how much allocation $$$ Bruce had, only a fraction of it will count against the cap.

1st post has been updated.

Cristman was put on the disabled list with a concussion

now let's talk salaries & more importantly value for money

Perk had somekind of special deal I think, though I don't think that he was a Generation Adidas one, but rather either somekind of USMNT youth or university related deal.

I thought that I read that Juninho's full salary was gonna be paid by them... Which made it even more of a unexpected return and addition. Now basically Leonardo's raise was taken from Juninho's cut.

Beckham's lower salary is AEG's gain, it won't help the G's, the DP caphit remains the same.

During the offseason I remembering reading a report or quote from Bruce Arena about the super secret allocation money thing, where he/it stated: that the G's had the largest amount of it, since BA was in charge. CCL qualification and the Ricketts trade certainly were part of that, among others. We can safely asume all the allocation money was used, nothing left there.
The champions bonus and annual raises certainly show too.

The G's certainly need(ed) it, with the current salaries accounting for 3.4 million and thus requiring 600k to be within the MLS salary budget of 2.8 million.

We will see outgoing transfers and players waived players before anything incoming can happen, unless it's a trade.

As you'll see by reading below, the big(est) earners (not just DPs) just aren't value for money for the most part this season.

the DPs are a seperate issue/discussion and account to more than one third of the G's budget.

then there is the quartett of Gonzo, Barrett, Franklin and Buddle.
Barrett is certainly not value for money. He's probably in his last contract year tough, otherwise I want his agent to negotiate all our paychecks...
He, together with Franklin and Buddle earn a lot for their (subpar so far) services, add the injuried Gonzalez and you pretty much have another third of the G's budget tied up in those 4 players...

That leaves less than a third for the rest of the team, who more or less are decent value (though some deserve more like AJDLG for example IMO).

a round up of roster stuff from the last few days. (LAG.com, Scott French ESPN LA, Nick Green 100%soccer)

  • Saunders cleared to play again
  • former Crew and TFC centerback Any Iro (ENG) is on trail
  • Robbie Rogers is training with the G's
  • Leonardo hasn't torn ACL again
  • unnamed GK in camp
  • Buddle and Keat out 3-6 weeks

Rogers is trying to get fit for Leeds after an injury.

Iro would require an international spot, G's would need to trade for his MLS rights, as well as a INT slot or relaease a current INTL player.
