#1347541 Florin Tănase

Posted by SoapyDish on 10 June 2019 - 01:03 PM

Romanian attacking midfielder Florin Tănase is in advanced discussions to sign with the New York Red Bulls. He currently plays for Steaua București. His club will not sell him for less than $5.7 million. He has been offered a salary of $1.1 million. (Fanatik) #RBNYMLS_19_RBNY.png

very big splash

24 years old, plays in Romania's top league. Gotta assume this is a player they'd expect to play at a high level right now. Also gonna assume that this is the type of signing where if it works out he'd be shipped off to Salzburg in a couple years.

Highlight tape I found: https://www.youtube....h?v=ZhrOrVRnRKc

Seems like his goal benefit from the goalies and defense being absolutely terrible. Should fit in well in MLS.

Just imagine being proud of philly cheesesteaks

What do you mean? They are totally unlike any other combination of cheese + steak on the planet.

Late to the thread, was at the game but I gotta say White was fantastic in the second half. Not sure he'll ever be a 15 goal a season guy but he plays a similar role to Giroud for France in the last World Cup and he did great today.

Also Etienne was great, should of had a second but they way he basically walked through the LA defense was amazing. He definitely needs to be getting more minutes going forward. Especially if the choice is between him and Jorgensen.

#1344602 Thierry Henry linked to RB coaching role

Posted by SoapyDish on 18 April 2019 - 04:09 PM

If anything it would bring some excitement to the sidelines, and on the field. Just don't see us going anywhere different from where we've been, at best with Armas. But is rb willing to pay Henry? He'd probably be asking for alot, reportedly wanted $200k a month from Bordeaux, plus relocation and travel costs for him and his agent.

Do it, we need a spark of some kind, and "Guys! Guys!" isn't doing it.

Henry reportedly got like 20 million euros from his 3(?) months with Monaco, the man isn't hurting. Plus he loves NYC so I'd imagine he wouldn't mind taking a "pay cut" to coach here.

And also I agree, "Wow we sucked that game, we aren't playing at our best, we'll do it next time!!" isn't doing it.

#1344523 Thierry Henry linked to RB coaching role

He's either gonna be an assistant with Leipzig or he's gonna become head coach here. Jesse is the new Salzburg coach so that's not an option.

And I doubt he wants to be an assistant again when spending a lot of time as assistant with Belgium. Him coming here as HC makes too much sense. Armas isn't proving to be a great coach, Henry knows the organization and is a legend here, MLS is a pressure-free environment (until the playoffs I guess), he can't get us relegated like Monaco.

I will feel bad for Armas but I'm down for coach Henry tbh. It's not like Red Bull have anything to lose, what are we gonna do, not win an MLS cup?

Add another game to the list of about 3,000 metro games where if you told me the result before I watched the game I would be happy, but because I did watch it I am not.

I had to subscribe sadly. Works good so far and I'm getting the MSG feed at least. Sucks that Reddit soccer went down.

A discord sever took it's place and works great, but there's no stream for this game, of course.

#1343153 Kaku benched, his feelings hurt

Posted by SoapyDish on 19 March 2019 - 12:07 PM

Yea..I don't see how anyone "sides" with Kaku. From what we hear - a lot of guys bleed for this club, especially the academy guys. I'm not sure who would be "siding" with him openly demanding a transfer and shitting on the club...

Yeah I don't see many of our players "siding" with Kaku. BWP and Robles owe the club the best of their careers, academy guys are part of huge success stories, and guys like Royer and Parker seem too professional for petty shit like this.

The only player I could see "siding" with Kaku would be Taxi, mostly cause I think he wants to chase big bucks in Europe which I can't blame him for.

#1342447 Possible naming rights to RBA

I thought I read reports a couple months ago that RBNY, as well as many other MLS clubs were operating at a decent profit?

Anyway, I'm gonna miss that emphatic "RED, BULL, ARENA!"

My guess;

Royer - Kaku - Muyl

Davis - RZA

Taxi - Long - Parker - Lade

Louro, Duncan, Tarek, CCJ, Valot, Ivan, Omir

I think Duncan starts, especially since he didn't play a full 90 tonight.

This team is below USL quality.

Kinda harsh, it's only our second game of the season

The man has scored 124 goals and still not good enough for some people. Jesus H. Christ.

You mean Thierry Henry has given BWP 124 goals.

Rumblings of Pity Martinez actually not moving to Atlanta, and according to a screenshot of his Instagram he is currently in NYC.

Also apparently, Pity has not actually ever named ATL, just things like "the US club".

Welcome DP3 (4?)!

#1338668 Offers for Murillo

Posted by SoapyDish on 02 January 2019 - 08:16 PM

Sell asap if he wants to go and the price is right. I always thought he was kind of weak on the the defensive end but had huge upsides in possession and going forward. He's a winger's dream wing partner going forward. And he's only 22? I thought he was at least the wrong side of 25.

It'll be a huge loss but right back isn't the scariest place to lose a player in, could be replaceable by a more seasoned MLS guy.

I take Muyl and Etienne over 90% of MLS journeymen and Ivan's out there that we could/would otherwise have. With the added factor of their age and durability they are (imo) great squad players. Even if we got some magic unknown South-American DP3 they can't play every July game in Houston.
