#1338053 Parker signs new deal

Retaining the best defense in MLS really helps with going right back at it with trying to "win now". Awesome news

Keyword in this press release is "transfer" and not "sell". I doubt we are getting any significant kickback for this. I could obviously be wrong though, maybe Austria will be willing to sign some bigger checks this January.

I can see it now, next leg we score an early goal, we score again before the half, all looking good.

Then, Justin Meram with a goal in the 68th makes it 2-1, and the Crew win on away goals, only after an 86th minute sitter from Ivan, who is playing for some reason.

I went to the Chicago game when we first won the shield. Really hope I'm a shield good-luck charm cause I'm going this Sunday.

11 pts. 3W 2D 1L, that's how I think the last six'll go, conservative estimate. we win at DC to start off the stretch run.

loss it totally coming from Philly isn't it

We should invest in Titanium achilles for Thierry Henry and make him DP3.

#1330934 Watching Etienne wiff chance after chance

Posted by SoapyDish on 31 July 2018 - 06:23 PM

BWP had 2 goals in 408 minutes in his first season here. A goal every 204 minutes isn't good for a forward, but that was a pretty small sample.

Etienne has 15 goals in 5,965 professional minutes. That's one every 397 minutes.

If Etienne was twice as good as he has been throughout his career, he'd be as good as BWP was at his freshly-arrived worst.

But BWP came in as a actual striker who was playing in England professionally for the last decade. imo that's an unfair comparison

Wonder how rotation will play into this game. Two of Royer, Rza, Etienne and Muyl will be starting. uhhhhhh

Royer / Kaku / Adams

Rza / Davis

Taxi / Long / Parker / Murillo

edit: also maybe Lade/Escobar/Kutler get a chunk of time?

About that Etienne chance, I was at the game and probably had the perfect view of that shot he missed, and that was a solid attempt at a really difficult shot. Sure, he could have done better, maybe used his left foot there, but to think that we should ship him down to RB2 while Muyl is getting lots of minutes is ludicrous.

I think Eitenne has the attitude and work ethic to get more minutes now, but the biggest question is if he can start converting his chances.

Don't think i'm ready for another round of starting Muyl, let's hope Etienne can take this opportunity and/or this Ivan guy signs and winds up being good.

edit: or if our Austria overlords would allow... DP3.

Look at our record against teams underneath us in the standings.

Losses to Chicago New England Orlando Salt Lake. Draws to Philadelphia Columbus.

Happens a lot in soccer, from top to bottom. Good teams put a lot of stock into beating other good teams and usually find it boring to play shitty ones, and of course wind up dropping points to said shitty teams as a result. Now obviously, these guys are professionals and should be rolling over teams like Philly, but it is understandable to an extent.

#1328756 Petke Tried to Cut BWP?

Damn I remember when everyone thought BWP was just extra incentive to for SWP to come, how times change.

#1326735 Ignacio Pussetto is expensive

Posted by SoapyDish on 29 May 2018 - 07:50 PM

^ Also why it's gonna suck if they get knocked out of open cup while missing several starters.

What if Pussetto is an upgrade on Royer? Would keep the other mid spot open for developing players. Kaku Pussetto and Etienne running at a backline would make for a feast for BWP.

Certainly gives Marsch a good problem to have. But when time comes to MLS Cup time you're gonna want Royer starting.
