If Familia doesn't walk  the 7 hitter, (kinda got squeezed there) they intentionally walk Gillaspie and Bungarner is out of the game.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Familia might want out after all the negatives from the fans. He'll certainly bring in a lot of good trade offers. He only makes 4M$, up from last year's 500K$. He is subject to 2 years of arbitration.

That would be a shame, he's not a bad closer at all.  Hasn't been the best in non-save situations, but I don't think the other night takes away all that he's done the last 2 years

He wasn't his sharpest, but he made a couple of good pitches that were not called, in the playoffs that can be the difference, especially in a one game playoff.

Closers who get the job done day in and day out do not grow on trees.  And closers who have a spotless postseason record are even rarer.

I agree with this. Rene Rivera wasn't helping the situation with his catching in the last few innings either.

Listen, the guy had 52 straight saves without blowing one between the end of last season into late summer of this season. He saved 94 in the past two seasons while blowing 10 total, a couple in which the Mets still ended up winning in extra innings. He led MLB in saves this year and was a clear All Star.

Granted he has a habit of letting a runner or two get on board and making things interesting, but seemed to always get out of it.

The lesson should be: unless he is going for a save, don't use him. If it's a tie ballgame, hold him off until they get a lead or you are out of other options.

I hope he's back next year.

$29 Million last year, played 1/4 of season.
$29 Million this year, will not play.
$29.5 Million next year, will he play?

i am convinced the Mets signed a deal with the Devil in order to have the ball go through Buckner's legs in '86.  Everything else since then is a direct result of that incident. And some of it even rubbed off on us (Mets...Metros...maybe the Devil can't spell).

I am honestly shocked that they didn't fire Callaway yesterday following the disaster down in Miami.

That would be like firing the captain of the Titanic, after it had struck the iceberg.
Mets would not fire Terry Collins, because they would have to pay him & the new manager. Same reasoning here.

I agree, ownership are definitely the ones blocking it. I thought being that this isnt the new GMs guy, they would give him the freedom to pull the plug.

Well

I heard on SportsCenter that the Mets were 806-0 when up 6 runs in the 9th before last night.

Pretty wild confluence of events, considering the Syracuse Mets held a 7 run lead in the 8th inning of a 1-game playoff in Scranton yesterday afternoon... and also lost.
