Unfortunately, I agree. They have a very real chance at getting the 1 seed in the East and they have a distinct advantage playing on that shit field because theyre used to it and no one else is. Fortunately, LAFC is historically good and undefeated at home (in league play), so my concern that theyll win MLS Cup isnt as high.

If LAFC trip up I could see the smurfs taking it all w the advantage they have in that baseball park.

And any team can trip up in a playoff format.

What was that thing that Barlow did? It was the 2nd funniest thing Ive seen all season.

I cant call it a miss because he never tried to shoot. He had a tap in.

It was almost if he had a bet on the other team and was trying make no attempt at a tap in.

I have no idea what to call it.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

LAFC only need 10 points from 8 games to clinch home throughout the playoffs.  Those are Orlando/Montreal numbers.  No way they lose that.

Fair, don't know why I had it in my mind that you were talking about catching them in the regular season.

I'd say the blue team is probably the 2nd or 3rd most likely team to win MLS Cup.

Didn't even look like he was going to get a shot off that let alone score, dumb ass play by Murillo there

Terrible challenge by Murillo.

Not mentioned at all: weak clearance by Long to give up the ball in a dangerous position. Ball-watching by Parker as well (on both goals).

Agreed. Id basically rank ATL & NYC based on who finishes 1st in the East. Slight upper hand to City right now with the game at hand, but they do play each other head to head again.

Smurfs can't win in Atlanta. If Atlanta gets #1 seed, they'll prob take title again.

Take the East, not the title. No way I'd bet against LAFC in MLS Cup.

LAFC looked exposed last night vs Gals. Thought the 3-3 scoreline was fair, but could have easily gone either way. Don't count out Zlatan in the playoffs

agree - game was bonkers.

Guy is a big game player.  I know he says he doesn't like the playoffs but the playoffs (if he makes them :-) are made for him.

(I'll pretend like that meltdown v Houston last year was an anomoly).

58% passing accuracy.

Come on - thats what we are supposed to do to other teams not inflict upon ourselves.

We were averaging 66% in ~ 1st half of the year.   Slightly better recently.

DC 71%

NER 72%

LAFC (Formerly Chivas) 67%

Toronto 82%

Cbus 66%

game states

https://www.mlssocce...s-after-week-25

I don’t know what to say about RBNY in the big picture other than to repeat last week’s thought: They are going to thoroughly dominate a 20-minute stretch in the first half — they did it against this week against both D.C. United and NYCFC — and they have to walk out of that stretch with a multi-goal lead. They haven’t figured out how to stop the momentum coming straight back into their face, so they absolutely have to figure out how to capitalize on the early chances

One reason they dominated early on Saturday was they mixed up their pressing scheme. Everyone knows that RBNY press, but their coaching staff has not received enough credit over the years for how they mix up their pressing schemes from game to game. Their defensive movements are rarely the same two weeks in a row. This week, it was particularly unique. They used Daniel Royer as second striker with Bradley Wright-Phillips to close down NYCFC’s center backs; Kakutook the first defensive mid; Alex Muyl closed down the left back. It would be natural for think that their right back, Anton Tinnerholm, would be wide open, except RBNY used defensive midfielder Vincent Bezecourt to slide all the way over. NYCFC couldn’t figure it out and couldn’t get out of their half for the first 20.

Also good right up on NYCFC how they used the compact field to their advantage and played 4-2-2-2 with ensuring they conected short passes and competed for 2nd balls.
