Very surprised.

Beginning of 2014 Roxburgh mentioned NYRB was very close to fielding a USL Pro side this season (2014). Ran out of time, was a definite for 2015.

Also, from the article,...."“The MLS don't give us a choice here. You've got to have your own or be with someone.". Does this mean Roxburgh wanted a third choice? Or was Roxburgh just flanneling?

It sounds like he (they) wanted nothing at all, but MLS is forcing an affiliation.

Just absolutely stunning and embarrassing.  When you think things are beginning to look up, they bring you right back down.  This isn't same old metro quality, this is worse.

This is very depressing news.  I wish I had known before my season ticket renewal.  I might have decided to hold off until the start of next season  to make my decision.  I will always be a Red Bulls fan, but funds are limited and if they can't spend than nether can I.  I can watch on TV.

Look at what LA has done with their USL Pro team. They were able to convert Robbie Rogers to a left back because they had the chance to give him game time in  professional contests.

They're signing homegrowns to their USL team so they stay "in the system."

They're taking a chance on foreign projects (instead of wasting senior team roster slots on them LIKE WE DO).

They're giving Academy players a chance to play competitive professional matches.

Their bottom of the roster players (their Obekops and Stevensons) get to play 30+ games a season.

Is there any in this rout with authority to treat with me? Or indeed with wit to understand me?

Silver lining perhaps, but between tightening the belt on the DP's and now not shilling on the USL and youth development...seems like their interest in the club here is waning.  Makes one wonder if a sale isn't too far off after all.

Let's look at things here:

-DeBontin out seemingly out of nowhere

-DeGrandpre back in

-Tightening of belt on player salaries (no more Henry paychecks)

-Talk of investing in youth structure

-Update training facility

-Out of nowhere embrace Metro

-Pull out of USL team idea and decide no, we won't have a USL team after all

It's all over the place.  I mean, from afar it looks almost like an internal management struggle with next to no clear direction from the CEO.  That or it looks like a firm that is tying up loose ends and looking for a new investor, tabling projects until it gets the new team in place.

Something is up.  I'm not sure what, but something is clearly up.

This is disappointing. Which teams are fielding USL Pro teams and which are not?

Actually I take it as though Roxy was trying to convince Europe of it... By saying something like "We have no choice" you are helping your own argument.

But not before they bleed all interest dry and leave a mess for the next owner.

RSL.  And they're building a stadium for the USL team as well.

So basically the strongest MLS sides will leave us even further in the dust

Forgive me fellas... But I'm just beyond upset about this right now... This is more than just gravely disappointing, It's outright embarrasing and you all know it. This is far worse than any boneheaded loss on the pitch. It's like boling water for tea, but you wind up burning down your fucking house doing it! GOD DAMN IT!!!

Just when you think things are finally turning the corner on this franchise organizationally, just when you think they finally have earned your support, they somehow, someway windup proving the skeptics and the haters right... Again! Time after time.

"Against Modern Football". Now I know what my friends in Vancouver were talking about.

I'm not sure why this is the last straw for me, but this is the last straw for me.

I'll watch on TV next season.
