#1339334 Some people need visas

Posted by regulator on Yesterday, 03:59 PM

What family? Wife and kids?
Or, relatives who might overstay their visas?

seems like a lazy thing to accuse someone of on a soccer forum of all places.

#1339124 Tyler Adams in Europe

Not sure if Tyler Adams will feature in RBL squad this weekend, but they have a very tasty matchup against Pulisic + Dortmund, Saturday 1230pm.

How young are we talking? I'm 25 and I say fuck having your team named after a corporation, and although I get how it works in individual sports like snowboarding, racing, etc I find the concept of having your team named after a soft-drink abhorrent. It has played a major factor in curbing how much time/money I've spent on this team.

I can also say anytime someone has asked me what team I follow, there is almost always a negative reaction to our name, ranging from mild amusement to pure disdain. Similar to what many have said about nothing being 'the factor' either in terms of drawing or repulsing fans, I think this is definitely a factor that has limited the team's ability to draw in fans and keep them.

I specifically think it is the very personalities who would drive game-day experience and a sense of shared community, the type of people who could help create more of a culture around the team,  who are driven away by the name. I'd hazard a guess that people who want to jump around and scream for ninety minutes and pour their heart and soul into something would find it hard to do so while shouting the name of a giant corporation.

Just my take/two cents, but what do I know, I'm just a dumb millennial and the soccer has the youngest viewership/following of any sport in the U.S...

Funny enough, i was the opposite. I grew up a fan (went to GS as a kid), and once Red Bull Arena opened up and the team re-branded, i went to even more games.  Now I'm a STH along with 3 friends.  The name literally means nothing to me. I just enjoy having professional soccer nearby and a team I can call my own.

I did see a huge stadium and huge traffic jams.

Straw man? Either take the PATH or dont.

judging from our dismal attendance, i'd guess many people opt for the "or don't" part of the sentence....which is exactly his point.

#1338842 Offers for Murillo

Why the hell would we trade him within the league? If we sell him abroad we get the allocation bonus + he gets a salary bump + we don't have to face him 1-2x per season + playoffs.

Couple of goals? Didn't dude score 10??

#1338354 Playoff format changes next year

Posted by regulator on 18 December 2018 - 08:34 AM

Don't really care about no reseeding. With parity, pretty much all MLS teams are interchangable except for the really good ones like rbny/ATL. Even out west could you really say one team was head and shoulders above the rest? I thought KC was that team this year and then Portland went and made the finals.

The seeding thing isn't a problem. The problem was the stupid break in the middle of the playoffs and having to play soccer in December. This new format fixes both of these things. I'm happy.

For fucks sake. Fail haber is basically a poor man's Sacha. We traded Sacha for peanuts (actually less than peanuts - we paid someone to take him). Why the hell would we get fail haber??

downside is it looks like he's gotten call ups from Egypt national team.  Not sure if that helps us given that Kemar/Long/Murillo/ maybe Parker will all be gone with the nats as well.

this seems incredibly short sighted by the FO. I'm not going to sign the auto renew and i'll drag my feet as long as possible. If they really want to lose a Red member over something so stupid then i'll be fine getting my tickets via Stubhub just like everybody else.

Parker's asking price just went down $100k

you can't teach 6'4 210, but you can teach mechanics/positioning.  thought Ndam could have grown into his own on the 1st team this year.

we are in a bind since at least 75% of our back line are automatic callups to their national teams (right now i think one of Long/Parker will be consistently called up to the Nats, but not both).

i liked escobar but given that he'll miss the same # of games as murillo (with the Panama nats), it seems unlikely to bring him back.

i'd rather give minutes to one of our up and coming prospects from RB2 than to a washed up MLS "Vet".

BWP has been one of the most consistent goal scorers in league history and is coming off a 20 goal season. Most teams would kill to get a striker like him. We would be extremely stupid not to protect him.

It would be stupid for them to do a free transfer between sister clubs. It would send up immediate red flags in terms of FIFA fair play, especially in this environment when clubs are getting investigated for this very thing.
