#1347769 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

Muyl is such an obvious attacker to wingback conversion that it hurts me to think we haven't done it more consistently yet

If your backup left back is only good in one specific role (LWB in a 5 at the back formation), then he probably shouldn't be your backup left back. There is absolutely no reason to reshuffle your entire gameplan just to accommodate your backup

Lade cost us in Atlanta last season and again tonight. Hes an easy target for any team competent enough to attack his side of the field.

We knew were losing these guys to Intl duty, its just poor planning.

Fucking this x 100000. Sick of the "salary cap bla bla" bs excuses. Lade is fucking garbage and it was evident last playoffs. Why is he still taking up a roster spot?

#1347310 Murillo to be sold, Olosunde to return?

would love him at RB (TAM player), move murillo to right mid (or sell him if he wants to go).

#1347304 Boca Juniors vs Club America, Wed 7/3 @ RBA

Posted by regulator on 07 June 2019 - 10:41 AM

so i just realized that this friendly is on the same day as both the Copa America semifinal #2 and Gold Cup semifinal #2.  Absolute worst case scenario would be Argentina in one game and Mexico in the other.  Talk about shitty planning

Edit: since Mexico is in group A, they can only play the semifinal on July 2 (regardless of whether they finish first or second). Phew!

The aforementioned restaurant at 1100 Frank E Rodgers Blvd S, Harrison, NJ 07029 is a Portuguese Restaurant named Joia by SolMar. It is owned by the same owners as SolMar Restaurant on Ferry St.  Great place for pre and post games.  The staff wear Red Bull's shirts and they speak English and Portuguese.  They have typical Portuguese cuisine. It is 2 blocks from Gate A.

nice! had no idea about this place. i typically head to ah pizz or to the beer garden, but will check this place out next time

Theres some food places and a hotel closer to the path (5 guys burger, pizzeria / gastropub) but nothing immediately next to the arena yet other than condos and a gravel parking lot

Supposedly there will be a series of offseason friendlies (big shock) in the US this summer, but we are getting quite a nice friendly at RBA. This one will definitely sell out.  Haven't seen anything re: ticket sales, freebies for STH, etc. yet.

#1347146 News from the Mothership

The fact that people are spiting this because "hur hur red bull out amirite" speaks volumes.  We were a top team with ONE "can't miss prospect" (Tyler Adams) and we broke the points record, and were an injury away from probably winning MLS Cup last year.

The new guy (an extremely well respected coach and eye for talent) explicitly wants to bring more "can't miss prospects" to places like Brasil and RBNY.  And we are opposed to this because...fuck red bull? Give me a break

#1347135 Other MLS 2019

Posted by regulator on 04 June 2019 - 10:39 AM

i feel like the league trolled us this year with our away games.  Saturday away games make for great road trip (or even long weekend trips). But Sunday ones are a lot harder to coordinate (work the next day, having to find a late Sunday or early Monday morning flight). Look out our upcoming road schedule after Philly this Sat:

Wed July 3 @ Hou

Sun July 7 @ ATL

Wed July 17 @ Tor

Sun July 21 @ Orl

Sun Aug 11 @ LAFC

Wed Aug 21 @ DC

Sat Aug 24 @ NYCFC

Sun Sep 15 @ Seattle

Wed Sep 18 @ Por

Sun Oct 6 @ Mon

Our only Saturday away game (after Philly) is the one game which could have been on a Sunday or Wed - the game at Yankee Stadium. Every other game is on a Wed or Sunday. Come on MLS....

#1347109 Sports betting legal in NJ

Posted by regulator on 03 June 2019 - 03:54 PM

Finally took a visit to the sports book. Place was buzzing on a random Tuesday night. Had a few beers and made a couple of bets:

Liverpool at 12:1 to win the champs league

Psg 7:1 champs league

Chelsea 10:1 EPL

NY Giants 50:1 super bowl

Couldn't bring myself to bet on the Knicks to win it all at 550:1 though...

one of these is looking good now :)

Apparently the tubby Mexican boxer Andy Ruiz was an 11:1 underdog Sat night...really wish I would have followed through with my gut to bet on that one

I have to believe there's no way the tournament isn't tweaked next year with Nashville and Miami joining. That would only leave 9 lower division teams in the 4th round per the current format. Not sure how they'll do it, but pretty much an alternative method they can think of would be an improvement.
Definitely agree that ESPN+ is, at least, one massive improvement for the tournament.

Kyle Duncan got a call up? To where?

USMNT camp also featured a full roster of u-23 players to train with the senior team

MLS all star last year, current fixture for his national team at age 23.  Hardly "buying low".
